There was so much to love about that episode.
-"We're being slowed down." "OKAY, I GET IT."
-The proposal for a third
Gator
movie
-Archer's horrible voicemail greeting
-The Cubans targeting Ray after using the photo of Blonde!Archer
-"Wait, was that the same footage?"
-Woodhouse trying to find a pimp cup
I laughed hard enough to shoot popcorn kernels out of my nose. So glad
Archer
's back.

I like the episode better now that I see Reynolds felt about his performance roughly like I did. It was very... meh. But the episode was still great.

The "Pam gets kidnapped" episode wasn't all that great IMHO. I don't really see Pam and Cheryl as being capable of being the driving forces for a plot. However Pam and Cheryl are what takes a good scene and makes it gold with their comments.

This. It's good that Reynolds admits his performance was a bit lackluster. it shows an awareness that few actors would owe up to in an interview. Makes me look forward even more to his (hopefully) next appearance on Archer.

I enjoyed the episode, but I came into this thread expecting everyone to have already turned on Archer. Three seasons, and the Fark "Everything is great when I get into it, then sucks after" Brigade isn't making an appearance yet? You mean even though it's as good as it ever was, there isn't some asshat in here saying, "first season was great, been going downhill since"? God damn, I'm surprised.
The terms of en-rampagement episode is probably my favorite, also. Don't know any of the actual episode names....

One of my favorite gags from the episode was the continuing theme of Krieger's Rush album cover inspired van murals. First it was "Exit . . . Van Left" and now "Vanispheres," I'd love to see "Fly by Van" if only to see Krieger superimposed as a giant owl.
I also really enjoyed the continuous threats of waking up in a mental hospital with amnesia under a false name, I loved it because it was a callback to what Carol/Cheryl/Cristal's fate was originally going to be at the end of the pilot.
From the AV Club's interview with
Archer
creator Adam Reed
(new window): "it was going to be a running gag that Archer kept impregnating Malory's secretaries. Whenever it happened, they would gas them with sleeping gas and just leave them on the steps at Bellevue Hospital with no ID or memory of what just happened. But when Judy agreed to do the show, Cheryl became a much more important character."
If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the
AV Club's
Archer
recaps
(new window) and their comments.

He makes a good point about James Bond. He should look like he's having fun bedding women, killing bad guys and chugging vodka. Craig doesn't have that, even though technically his Bond is the closest to the novels. But what works in books is different than what works in film.

I'm kind of curious to see how long Archer stays hot. Archer himself has to walk the line between being hilarious off task and a bad person, without becoming a guy you just really, really, hate. There has to be a balance. Since everyone is pointing out how awesome the rampage episode is, think about all the horrible stuff he does in that episode. Yet he has a redeeming value because he's avenging an old lady who died due to fake chemo drugs.
Basically the writers have to balance Archer being an insensitive and self centered (but hilarious) ass with some kind of redeeming value (without being too preachy). I assume at some point they'll start farking it up, but until then it's damn funny and continues to be.

Should ask Burt how his Dungeon Siege king role came along. I mean, Burt Reynolds in medieval times?
BTW, I don't know if the character voice and words are different, but when my latina gangster character in Saints Row III encountered the mayor, I lost it when I heard her break the fourth wall when she screamed, "Bert fawking Reynols?"
Still have yet to see Archer, though I did grow to like its previous incarnation on Adult Swim.

Actually, most actors are quite small in the grand scheme of things and smaller than they look in the movies. Has to do with proportions. They look better on camera.
That's why Arnold Schwarzenegger looked so towering even though he's only 6'1. I mean, he's big yeah, but in movies he looks GIGANTIC.
Sylvester Stallone is farking 5'9! (My height) Yet he looks imposing on screen.
