Bob16: Muta: Bob16: Yeah that economy is really doing great now.

One might even say we're in the Goldilocks economy.

I wouldn't go that far. The economy is definitely better than it was when Obama came to office.

I thought the word "Goldilocks" would have been enough of a hint.

Get real. The economy is still a disaster.

Yet is absurdly naive of Romney or anyone else to just assume that it can't get any worse or that it will naturally get better. That isn't what happened during the Great Depression, then there was a six year recession in 1815-21, and that isn't counting double dip recessions, and that's just looking at the US.

Bob16: udhq: GOP '12: Because Obama had nothing to do with all of the great things that happened during his presidency.

I'll have what you're drinking

Nearly 1 billion people who were living in dictatorships last year are living in democracies today.

The rate of job growth nearly doubled last year. New jobless claims are the lowest in 4 years.

The GDP, which was shrinking when Obama took office, has now had 26 months of straight growth.

From the day he took office to today, the Dow is up 53%, Nasdaq is up 80%, and S&P is up 56%.

Those are facts that can't be argued with. But we all know that your quality of life is still in the shiatter because you have to look at that usurping Muslin Marxist on the teevee every day.

It's also naive to assume that the numbers the government comes up with aren't cooked. Just look at what Bush did with the Birth / Death stat to pad his totally fictional job creation numbers.

The articles i saw said that some months 80% of his job creations numbers were pulled directly from his ass and placed into the Birth / Death stat.

Ah genius.

I am a Marxist

You don't have much credibility, tho'. You're like my mother talking about the jews.

Infernalist: And those polls also show that Perot pulled most of his support from Clinton's base, not the Republicans.

I've seen such polls. Which seem absolutely insane to me, just from my personal experience. I lived at the time in a solid-red Kansas county that Perot won in '92. Not just beat Clinton or Bush. Won the plurality in. That same county hasn't had a Democrat since Carter hit 25%. Perot had to be drawing from Republicans there (and he was), since there never were any Democrats to draw from.

Karac: It's almost as if Laura Ingraham and Mitt Romney are determined not to give Obama credit for anything he's done, even if their denial stretches the bounds of truth.

Stretches?

I'd stretch 'er.

Anecdotal stories aside, the poll numbers don't lie. When polled at the time, the vast number of Perot supporters said that they'd have voted for Clinton if Perot hadn't been in the race.

Delay: Corvus: Remember how Bush won re-election on only "There has not been another major terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11". That was his bar to get re-elected.

Well Obama has done that, took out OBL,overthrew Qaddafi without much cost, ended the war in Iraq, winding down the Afghan war, kept us out of what even Republicans said might be another great depression.

I mean WTF?!?!

A lot of independent voters care about image not facts. National poll: Gingrich 45% Obama 43% Link (new window)

Its Rasmussen. They add 8% to the Republican total just to even things out.

That poll seems to be your average Rasmussen "outlier" poll.

Not disagreeing ... but kind of scratching my head wondering what Perot and Clinton had in common, policy-wise? Isolationism?

Hey the stock market is way up since 2009, and that's all that matters to Romney, since he doesn't actually work for a living.

Maybe Newt actually will win the nomination

Yep. Thanks for catching it. Whenever you go to 538 Rasmussen polls get only one bar. It still looks like Gingrich is going to upset Mittens in South Carolina, although Cain could shine.

History repeats itself. And when it does not it rhymes. IMO Mr. Gingrich will prevail in SC.

I think so too and I am happy about it. It amuses me. It looks like (if nothing changes) Mitt will win Florida, though.

You maybe correct, but it seems there are a lot of elderly retired folks in Florida who vote. They think Newt is a youngster in their corner but Mittens is flip flopper who is going to destroy their Social Security. Could be a Romney disaster?

I don't know. I don't know why anybody would vote for Gingrich anyway so I am at a loss to analyze the Republican primary. I will just look at the polls.

He's the current "not Romney" but next week, who knows? Could be Mrs. Palin.

That is the funny thing. The "not Romney" thing is so strong that evangelicals are voting for an adulterous lech. It is surreal.
