As a Magic fan, I am pleased.

The Timberwolves aren't quite as bad as they were. Still not good though.

And besides, when you cram 66 games into such a short time frame, everyone's going to have some bad losses.

I like this T-Wolves team. Love is a great player, Rubio is terrific to watch and Darko went for 22 last night.

Exactly. One of the Bulls 3 losses is to Golden State, for Pete's sake.

Life long Bulls fan however the TImperpups are my 2nd fave team. Rubio and Love are the balls.

I'm a Clipper fan; they're my second favorite NBA team. Kings beat the Spurs last night, too.

/don't really have anything to say, just upping the comment count because golf highlights are more exciting than hockey highlights.

/8-5 isn't as good as I hoped, but the Cavs are better than expected. So, that's kind of nice.

The Clippers were also missing Chris Paul last night, it should be noted. But losing to the Wolves is not a shameful thing these days. (And who would've guessed at any point in recent years that Wolves at Clippers would merit national TV?)

2012-01-21 11:18:23 AM
The Wolves might as well have given Love that 5th year as soon as he walked off the court last night. No way they can refuse it after hitting the game winner like that.

Maybe they should go for the effeminate male soap opera crowd, like pro wrastlin'. That seems to rack up the comments like nothing else.

here we go i knew the ol oh chris paul was injured excuse would come out.

"The Timberwolves aren't quite as bad as they were. Still not good though.

really? gonna use that? so did you think that oh its a short season expect some "bad" losses when the wolves convincingly beat Mavs, Spurs, almost beat Miami/OKC. I'm not gonna try and say they're amazingly good this year but christ they need a little bit more respect then that this year. sure they've had a few games where they looked like their old selves but they're a young team their average age is 25.3 they're starting to develop. they need a little more just oh just expect a few bad apples from these good teams when they play teams like the wolves. i mean honestly they've been able to guard and keep down some of the better players so far. like who would've imagined Darko of all people on the team to block griffin not once not twice but three times in the game. its like honestly the wolves are not the same kind of team they've have been the last few years. just look at the change darko has gone through from just the first handful of games. the first few games its like do something darko use that big body of yours and do something in the paint and now he's the leading scorer against the clippers.. this team still has many more surprises in store for us this year other then just oh they suck yet again.

Still, this Clips team kind of feels like a "#2 or 3 seed gets upset in first round of the playoffs" right? Especially if someone like Dallas or Memphis continues to be mediocre and ends up their matchup? Seems like tough D that concentrates on stopping them on the break, maybe laying off Paul and letting him get whatever he can from the floor and limiting his impact on the rest of the team, is the formula?

Since the Wolves are never on TV, I was shocked to see last night that they start 4 white players? I was fascinated. I live in Iowa, and we don't even have 4 white players on a team in YMCA pick up games.

When is the last time a team started 4 white players? Does Stormfront of Free Republic keep stats on that kind of thing?

2012-01-21 11:58:08 AM
They will never contend for a title as long as their coach is Vinny Del Negro. Once the playoffs hit, they will need to run an actual offense and for that, Vinny has no clue.

Knew I made a good call picking up the Timberwolves as one of my NBA League Pass Lite teams. Striking out on the Warriors, though. Shoulda gone with the Blazers. o.o

Oh, and any of you who dogged on Rubio: Dude is going to be a star in this league. His basketball IQ is absolutely absurd. Even shooting for absolute shiat last night, you could see the way he could control a play without putting any points up. So obviously, Rubio and Love will be traded in the next two years and the next Laker dynasty will be born.

As a sixers fan, I think it's a bunch of things. For the Sixers themselves, it's a bit of maturity, youth, depth and continuity. The compact season also helps.

I was at the Knicks Sixers game, and if the Sixers weren't playing their third game in three days they would have killed the Knicks.

Third Seed. I think they can get to the Conference finals. There's no way that Stern will let a team w/o superstars go to the finals.

The Pacers.

Utah, I think.

And Rubio looked great last night. He is fun to watch. In the closing minutes, DeAndre Jordan grabbed a rebound, looked around, and boom, Rubio stole the ball from him. He had a look on his face like "What the fark just happened?

Meanwhile, without Derrick Rose, the Bulls put up 114 points against the Cavs and beat them by 40.

Kevin Love would look fantastic in a Thunder jersey.

Or not... I have no idea. All I know is that you could buy T-wolves season tickets for bits of string the last couple years.

Mike_LowELL: So obviously, Rubio and Love will be traded in the next two years and the next Laker dynasty will be born.

Minny will probably be the third team taking a league mandated screwing in the trade that eventually sends Howard to LA. Something like Howard and Rubio to LA, Gasol and Love to Orlando, and Bynum and Jameer Nelson to the Wolves.

In all seriousness, as much trouble as they had getting Rubio in there, it would have to be one hell of a deal for even Kahn to let him go. He'll likely jump ship as soon as he can via free agency though.

MisterLoki: Kevin Love would look fantastic in a Thunder jersey.

God that would be nice wouldn't it? Only problem is, what would OKC have to give up to make this deal? Could you get it done with like Harden/Collison/Ibaka/picks? That seems like a ton but good night, the way Love is playing I'm not sure.

Rubio was 1 for 11, barea and beasley are still out on injury and the only one to really step up besides love was Darko who got his first 20 point game in years.

All this and the wolves still beat the clippers . Your Chris Paul argument is invalid

This season is going to produce some headscratchers, such as the Thunder losing to Washington a few nights ago. You can already see these minor injuries starting to pile up among a ton of good players. The players off-season workouts seem to be no substitute for true preseason conditioning programs.

No one is going to have the 60-6 record some pundits thought the Heat would have; there are just too many chances for a team to drop a game they shouldn't because of fatigue, injuries, or apathy.

You may wish to note that I wasn't making the argument. I was only granting it to someone who did wish to, because, you know, CP3 is pretty good and a pretty key part of that team right now. Besides that, the real point is that the Clippers shouldn't be ashamed of losing to the Wolves at this point, unlike subby seems to be suggesting.

The Clippers are the NBA version of the Detroit Lions. They were terrible for so long and now they have some talent. They will compete but in the end prove that they aren't quite ready to win a championship.

It certainly isn't a terrible comparison, but Lions' problem this year wasn't a lack of experience so much as discipline (although you can make the case the two go hand-in-hand).

The Clippers right now, despite having the best pure PG in the league, don't look to have the right pieces to run a half-court offense for four quarters if they play a team that can limit their fast-break opportunities. If Blake Griffin has more than one post move that he can use against larger defenders, I have yet to see them.

The return of Eric Bledsoe will help this. He's good at penetrating the defense(where Williams, Foye, and Billups are all jumpshooters at this point) and that is where Griffin gets his best looks as the defense rotates. It's the same with Paul, though I think Paul you need to treat with kidgloves somewhat to keep him healthy. That said, with Griffin trying hard to have some midrange jumpshooting skills, that will also help, as he's good enough with ballhandling and quick enough to beat big men off the dribble if he can face them up

The Wolves were bailed out by Darko, of all people. They played pretty bad for the first three quarters.

The T-wolves are a league-average wing player away from the playoffs. Or a transfer to the Eastern Conference.
