Too true, with all four of them playing the AFC North and NFC South they'll be lucky to go 4-4 against that slate. Even as a Raider fan I'm taking them and Denver under at 7.5 wins.

I was probable drunk last night when I posted that, but I remember reading a list of HoF coaches that didn't really start winning in the tiny time frame current owners seem to be giving new coaches, Shula was on there, but must have misremembered for why he was on the list

Shula was head coach of the Colts from 1963-69.
He had a grand total of 2 losing seasons; 6-8 in 1976 (Czonka and Kiick bailed) and 6-10 in 1988 (the "Olphins").

Chuck Noll didn't start winning with the steelers until season 4 I think it was. And went 1-13 his first year. (And I think 3-11 his second). He was terrible.

Of course, the Steelers didn't have ANY successful coaches prior to Noll and, like modern-day owners, they fired coaches left and right (I think the Steelers had like 5 or 6 coaches just in the 60s).

It was then that Rooney decided a different philosophy of stability and tradition would right the ship and stuck with Noll. Of course, I'm talking about Dan Rooney, who took over for the team in 1969 from his Dad.

It paid off and they won 4 super bowls.

To this day, Dan Rooney has never fired a head coach. Steelers are most successful franchise in the league. Coincidence... I think not.
