10%? He can claim to be a non-profit if he gives the other 90% to himself as salary.

I, for one, applaud this courageous artist for taking a stand against overpopulation.

Giltric: 10%? He can claim to be a non-profit if he gives the other 90% to himself as salary.

Because he's using the 90% to produce a record, from which all proceeds will go to charity?

When I was in university there was a well-intentioned but very misguided initiative called "Anti date-rape awareness week". Sadly, not a lot of people realized how retarded that name was.

The Onion TV show had a news blurb at one point "and today a Breast Cancer Awareness event was cancelled when it came out that the world was already AWARE of breast cancer..." LOL.

I received a resume once where someone was touting their volunteer work with teens "Helping them deal with the pressures of experimenting with drugs." Yeah, like the problem of scoring a dimebag in the suburbs, eh?

A friend of mine asked me to proofread a poster he was preparing for a charity event.

In short, it said "Help Support Homelessness".

I had a few suggestions.

Ovarian cancer is a motherfarker. My aunt is currently dying from it. If you have the symptoms, GO TO THE DAMN DOCTOR!

Katred00 The problem is the 'ovarian symptoms' are confused for anything else. I was misdiagnosed as kidney stones but they pumped me full of morphine and sent me home to wait it out while I was arguing "it's not stones". Ended up going into emergency surgery 12 hrs later to have an ovarian torsion removed. It's too vague "bloating, abdominal pain and digestive problems" are always assumed to be digestive disorders.

The original problem was missed by my OB/GYN at my annual check up less than 4 weeks before because the symptoms were common. Basically, if you go in to any appointment and know something is wrong insist they check it out before the doctor writes you off and heads out to the next appointment.

Ovarian cancer and other ovarian diseases are quite the difficult animals to tame. There is literally no screening technique and yes, it is usually just mistaken as GI problems. The only way to correctly diagnose it is by ultrasound but unfortunately, it is very expensive for both the patient and the hospital and there is no research that shows that doing routine ultrasound screening on all female patients would be a cost-effective procedure since ovarian cancer is so rare. At this point, the best option is actually just to create more awareness about the disease and encourage both doctors and patients to keep it in the back of their minds whenever the common symptoms are seen.

So good on this kid for making such an effort.
