If Democrats want Romney to lose, they need to play the hell out of this. There are a lot of single-issue voters who won't vote for a pro-choice candidate.

Romney does not do well when he's cornered, especially on glaring flip flops in his own record. Obama's going to hit that button until it falls off and Mitt has a nervous breakdown on stage.

They guy turns into Nathan Thurm when put on the spot. "Who said that? I didn't say that! You said that!"

A vote for Romney is a vote for four more years of Barack Obama.

How bad is it when compared to Romney, Newt Gingrich looks like someone who can be trusted to stand by his words.

Outrageous Muff: How bad is it when compared to Romney, Newt Gingrich looks like someone who can be trusted to stand by his words.

We always knew Newt would stand by is words - that's the problem. That, and he feels his words are relative to everyone else but himself.

Newt doesn't really contradict himself. He's just a run-of-the-mill hypocrite.

The news here is that it took 10 years for him to flip-flop there. It usually just takes days.

Finally. A candidate that every American can call their own.

He's been a handicapped unionist farmer.

He's been a right-wing, pro-choice, born-again, southern elderly protectionist pacifist.

He's been a redneck Northern liberal ethnic pro-life Jewish fixed-income no-nukes gun nut.

And he's been a woman named Freida.

Mitt Romney for President: He's been one of us.

/Once again: Bloom County is prophetic (^).

He just needs to pick up Newt's trick of angrily denouncing the reality based media for the bias it demonstrates in daring to report facts about him.

I honestly don't care if a person or politician changes his or her views in response to further information or continued contemplation. In fact, I find that to be a hallmark of a cogent individual.

On the other hand, topics such as the abortion one tend not to yield changed opinions all that often.

I suppose the issue is, did Romney change his stance after further consideration of facts and principles?

This is so true. The Conservatives eat that schtick up. They see it as being a great debater and sticking it to the man. In reality it is just a guy saying "You're rubber, I'm glue".

Are you kidding? He changes his opinion based on whois asking the question...

2012-01-20 01:05:10 PM
I said that last night. When he really, really does not want to answer a question, he stammers, stutters, and gives overly long explanations of what he thinks. "When will you release your taxes? Same thing.

I think he actually is pro choice, probably, if you could strip him down to a set of actual beliefs, but he knows he can't say that so he stutters his way through something vague and non-committal.

Yes. The he considered the fact that he wants to get elected so badly that he'll abandon whatever principles he may have.

Immigration, abortion and healthcare, Mormon faith and flawless hair
and butter sculptures everywhere, I've looked at the election that way
But now they only call me names, make fun of my money and say I'm strange
So many things I would have done, but the GOP base got in my way

I've looked at the GOP platform from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's the platform's illusions I recall
I really don't know the GOP platform at all

Cut the guy some slack, it was a simple misunderstanding. He thought the vow was "til deathbed do us part." Common mistake, could happen to anybody.

Romney seems like a nice enough fellow. He'd be slightly worse than Obama, but far better than any other Rethuglikkkan. With this kind of flip flopping, you think he'll do anything about abortion one way or the other?

Otherwise known as "attacking the messenger". It will get (is getting) standing Os in the GOP debates because the party faithful think the media is out to get them. If Jesus gets my letter and Newt survives to the general, he's going to have to come up with a different dance.
