Google+ ? Oh you mean that thing on my home page I cant seem to get rid of? Yea I try to ignore it but its starting to make even Bing look better and better every day. I thought it was just some sort of adware to avoid, yer saying they did that on purpose?

I was at least nice enough to delete my account when I got bored with it.

Back in the day, Google was the best search engine around, and felt no need to buy sites like youtube and FUBAR them.

I am one of those as well.

Fish in a Barrel: TFA: "Google+ users are very engaged with our products - over 60per cent of them engage daily, and over 80 per cent weekly."

Google has way more products than Google+. "Products" can mean youtube, gmail, G+, or even just the default search page if you leave your account logged in by default.

Its typical marketing bullshiat.

Yep, one of 90 million "strong" here.

I absolutely love Google+, on it every day D:

The connectivity of all Google products, the ability to control the feed on the main page for specific circles, privacy that actually works, and so far none of the drama that Facebook provided. I'm also incredibly amused by the facial recognition they're implementing with the photographs. As well, I can easily access my pictures on G+ through Picasa and have the desktop uploader sync to specific folders on my computer. Tell me what Facebook has done other than allowing more irritating game invites, implementing a convoluted timeline "feature" and skewing privacy controls?

Perhaps I'm just a Google fan-child, but I do believe if people gave it an honest effort they'd love it too ._.

Yes, but the opposite argument is really what the article headline is saying, so thank you Google+ marketing team for giving us all a big shiatburger to eat.

fark google plus. They tried getting me to use it by taking away my ability to share things in google reader by making me +1 them instead. I'd rather not share things than use it.

Moving to Google+ would be like buying a Zune when you already have an iPod. Sure, it might have better features, but everybody gives you a "WTF is that" face when they see you using it.

Yeah, this. My university uses Gmail for university email. I need to check my student e-mail everyday. Thus, I am a Google+ user that uses a Google product everyday, even though I haven't looked at my Google+ page in months.

I love Google+ and all the tools, too, but the problem is that a social network is only as good as the number of people using it. If all my friends would switch to G+, I would be perfectly happy to leave Facebook forever... but they won't, so what's the point in sitting over there all by my damn self? Google did a good job with G+ as far as functionality and making up for FB's short-comings, but if peoples' social networks aren't actually moving over there, you can't blame those people for not switching. There has to be some kind of sea change in G+'s favor if they want it to take off, and I haven't seen it happen yet.

2012-01-20 12:55:11 PM
Yeah. I treat FB the same way though.

I have "social" fatigue. Going to a bar and talking to strangers is vastly more satisfying than keeping up with the drudgery of my friend's lives.

Well ain't that a pissa? Google+ got themselves tha best ads on TV next to KIA but they ain't got no game when it comes 2 social networking. Tha users generate tha content in the realm of social networking. AND THURRR AIN'T NOBODY in tha arena.

Peep this, as a memba of the hip hop & mma communties I can tell u that we dictate tha trends. If somethin ain't popping here first it has no chance of blowing up in tha middle america, bro. Also, I think Google+ is wacked cuz they want every1 2 use thurrr system but ain't nobody 16-24 (my generation) interested.

CSB on "Why I dislike Google+"

It's simple really. I was prepping my ass off for an interview with Google at the same time when Google+ first came out. I was all excited about it, but then they decided not to hire me. So there ya go.

End of CSB

I'm the 90 million. I've logged on 3 or 4 times.

We use K9 software on the computer the kids use at home to filter web traffic. I noticed about a month ago that we are getting "blocked" alerts from Google+ trying to phone home from all kinds of non-Google pages. I haven't figured out if it's some sort of cookie they pushed out or if they are getting paying other sites to insert code to let Google+ figure out how to market things to me on my page.

Anyway, it's farking annoying.

I agree, it's frustrating. It's happening slowly though. I posted on my now deceased Facebook that I would no longer be returning, so go to G+ or forever forget about me. It convinced a fair amount of people to come over too! I had to hammer out all the reasons why it's amazing to some, and then they believed me about switching over lol.

I make it a point not to "love" services. Facebook and google+ are just tools that appeal to different audiences. All you are to facebook and google is a dollar sign. More so on g+.

/don't get the google love - they are an advertising company first and foremost

I have never heard of Google+. I had to Google Google+ to find out what it is. It won't tell me, just asks me to sign up. There is a photo of some blond girl on the sign up page, maybe I have a chance to score if I join?
Forget it.

I've switched over to duckduckgo, and except for the lack of image searches, I'm very happy with it. I'm growing more and more wary of google, so I'm switching to duckduckgo for searches, skype instead of google voice for phone calls and texts, and a friend's server (like, a real server not an old box in the corner of a room) for e-mail.

Even if I'm a dollar sign, so what? In this day and age, most things are about money which I've come to terms with and have since moved on. I'm fairly affectionate to my email service, my image hosting, and video streaming services. Nothing wrong to be infatuated with something you spend so much time with ;]

The only reason anyone who A: isn't a narcissist, B: has a career, and C: has a "real world" social life, would actually have a facebook account is...because it's the only way they can keep in touch with their narcissist friends who don't make any effort to maintain real relationships. The only reason I have FB at all is because it functions as a living rolodex keeping contact information for old friends & family up to date.
