A single magazine from the 1970s with pornographic images of pre-pubescent girls was enough to get a New York architecture professor arrested after firefighters found it while battling a blaze in his home at the Jersey shore

wait for it:

They doused the flames, and were checking for hidden pockets of flame behind the walls by pulling down panels of sheet rock, when the magazine fell from behind one of the panels, State Police spokesman Trooper Christopher Kay said.

I'm sorry to say but I think this guy actually has a case here.

Except for the: El-Zoghby designed and built the house in the late 1990s.

How did the magazine end up inside a house he built? Unless his contractors were insulating his house with pics of little girls.
He was hiding pics of little girls in the walls

This has "plausible deniability" written all over it because:

vudukungfu: that the sheetrocker lost suring his lunch break.

I'm not one to defend kiddie-diddlers and CP consumers, but I've been led to believe that those with the problem don't often limit themselves to "a pinch" of kiddie porn (especially physically inaccessible material) but instead build up a large, disturbing collection.

Of course, that impression comes from Fark comments and sensationalized news stories, so this guy might be as messed up as messed up can be.

And it was cached.

And TFA says it was "real" CP, not 17-year-olds.

And the house (apparently) has no previous owners.

Not looking good.

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Goin' nowhere, goin' nowhere
Their tears are fillin' up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dyin'
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Mad world, mad world

Children waitin' for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sits and listen, sits and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dyin'
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Mad world, mad world

I don't know, I could buy a story that some sheetrocker had brought a magazine to whack off with during his lunch break and had to put it in a wall before the boss saw it. As stated, how many people - not even pedophiles - who have any porn in the house, have just one magazine?

You haven't met many contractors, have you? That's exactly the level of intelligence and/or maturity you should expect from them.

Alternatively, when a house is under construction it's typically quite open even after the lock-up stage. It wouldn't be hard for a kid to sneak in with one of his dad's old magazines and have the place to himself while he enjoys the pictures.

Nudist magazines were legal back in the 70's. I'm sure more than one contained a picture of an under age girl.

Have just one magazine from the 70's that is completely inaccessible.
Either he got trolled by the sheet rocker or he cured an addiction to CP or there is more they just haven't found it.

Barring the notion they find more, which is more realistic?

Only one that's inside the wall. OTOH if you had a CP collection why wouldn't it all be in the hidey-hole? On the third hand maybe the rest of the collection is electronic.

It'd be interesting to know if there was a way to nondestructively get into that space before the fire. If not I'd be inclined to agree on it being a careless and/or vindictive construction worker.

Anyone could have put that there, and while we are at it, arrest the publishers and staff of the magazine as well.

Isn't he the architect who redesigned the quaint New England house of the recently deceased couple in Beetlejuice?

I'm not surprised that a giant anthropmorphic rabbit would set fire to the house of a child-porn collecting post-modernist. Take one glance at that house and tell me you wouldn't burn it down if you were in the neighborhood.

Giant anthropmorphic rabbits are the sworn protectors of small children. As Nature Spirits, Pookas especially hate anything unnatural, unkindly and vicious. They don't hurt the innocents, only the depraved.

And they hate fugly modern architecture.

Even the color of that house just screams "Wonder if I'll burn? Why don't you try me and find out?"

Trust me, I know my folklore, and this is a prime example of folklore in action, with or without giant invisible rabbits.
