Better than watching the Redskins

I paid about $70 for nosebleed seats to see the Pens play the Caps at the Verizon Center last week. The same seat for a Wizards game is about $3. I wish I found basketball more interesting, I could probably get season tickets using the loose change I found on my desk.

Good thing basketball came back.

Maybe it's because they realize that basketball is utterly boring and monotonous.

My SO fell asleep during the NHL Premier Game. She only went for the club seats free food and alcohol.

Ashame the beer and food is expensive and bad. I'd otherwise go.

Verizon has a few vendors that sell imported beers for $8.50. Which is only $.50 more than the price of Bud/Coors/Miller. I'm sure to stop by there every time I'm at a game.

I've always wondered why bad teams don't have discounts on concessions. I'm not saying have the 10 Cent Beer night (I guess that would be $1 beer night in today's money) that caused all of the riots back in the 1970s, but $3.50 beers and reasonably priced and decent food would get a lot more people in the stands.

Heading over with some friends in early March when the Cavs come to town, keeping my fingers crossed that tickets will still be available.

desertgeek: Maybe it's because they realize that [regular season NBA] basketball is utterly boring and monotonous.

FTFY. The NBA playoffs can be interesting, but for the most part, the regular season is a snoozer.

Part of the reason is the fact that the regular season is too goddam long, and it's too easy to make the playoffs. You just need to do enough to be around .500 to get in. Given that, I can't blame NBA coaches at all for not wanting to burn their players out too early in a regular season that matters little.

Cut the regular season to 40 games, and only have 4 playoff slots per conference, and the regular season would be much better. Not a chance in hell that will happen, though.

This shortened season should be less boring then, but somehow it doesn't seem to be the case.

NBA basketball sucks...

No one plays defense till the 4th quarter, which makes it as exciting as watching a tennis match.

NHL >> NBA

Bad teams dont play defense. I have to image this has always been true.

I also think tennis is fun to watch whatever that is worth.

If they signed Lebron James then they'd sell out every game for the rest of the season.

I'd be interested to see the TV viewers for Olympic basketball vs Olympic hockey.

Olympic hockey is better because it is a fun style of play and the talent is not as centralized.

Have you heard of this place called China? Big basketball fans, don't give a fark about hoc-key, quite large population...? Or Brazil, or Argentina, or Australia, or southern Europe, or the United States...

Yeah, I'm aware. That's I said I would be interested in seeing the numbers comparing the two.

Canada and Russia are not small by any means

i was at that game in section 101 and it was as exciting as it gets for weezards basketball. the game came down to the final shot too! i dont care what you knuckleheads think, that was entertaining

I think that points being scored is due to a lack of defense, not the fact that there's no goalie in front of the basket! beta_plus: I've always wondered why bad teams don't have discounts on concessions. They really should - I only go to the WHL games around where I live when they have Buck Night (dollar hot dogs and soda - beer isn't discounted, but I don't need to drink booze everywhere I go). Fun enough for an evening and five bucks gets me 3 hot dogs and 2 cans of Sprite. Plus I can always just get the cheapest seats and move up to the lower section since there are always a bunch of empty seats.

Because none of the talent is centralized in the NBA.
