really? they've had the GOP candidates on every freaking day. all their numerous debates. running all their ads. and because they dare ask Newt about his family values and expose his hypocrisy on the subject they're fellating Obama? The whole idea of liberal media is a lie. They're all corporatist. and they probably like Romney over Newt. Even the GOP has admitted it's a lie and they use them to "work the refs". And in South Carolina among the GOP base that shiat plays well.

2012-01-20 08:30:44 AM
Is anyone surprised that Gingrich is crying about the media using the very tactics
that he exploited to get Clinton back in the 90s?

The shame of the nation is that this might well shore up his support among GOP
Tea Party types.

2012-01-20 08:32:38 AM
Let's say they were actively trying to take down Gingrich as the Republican nominee. How is that better for Obama than allowing him to become the nominee?

2012-01-20 08:34:14 AM
Yeah, the media would never talk about the sex life of a Democrat.

Except for Anthony Weiner, John Edwards, Eliot Spitzer, Bill Clinton, Gary Hart, John Kennedy...

2012-01-20 08:34:53 AM
a recent pew study showed that the opposite is true - that, in fact, of all the candidates, obama gets BY FAR the most negative coverage.

but whatever.

Yep. The conservative iron-triangle between right wing politicians, right wing media, and right wing business is getting disturbing. Not to gratuitously Godwin the issue, but just replace "liberal" with "Jew" and you get an almost indistinguishable pattern of systematic dehumanization and demonetization of political enemies and scapegoats.

Man, Republicans sure are thin skinned pussies.

2012-01-20 09:11:53 AM
Who says the media is liberal? The media, that's who. What better cover for moving more to the right than to incessantly push the story that you are too far left?

That must be why the GOP Presidential Debates are on every night. Damn you, lieberal media and your thought-controlled orders from Taxb0ng0's hypno-ears!

Mr. Coffee Nerves: That must be why the GOP Presidential Debates are on every night. Damn you, lieberal media and your thought-controlled orders from Taxb0ng0's hypno-ears!

Letting the Republicans go off script is the best way to ensure President Obama's re-election.

Newt destroyed their party for his own petty, personal reasons. How quickly they forget. We knew this was coming. I just can't wait to see them embrace a Mormon. That is going to be high comedy.

Aarontology: Man, Republicans sure are thin skinned pussies.

And ready to scrap their morals and principles the minute they're cornered by their own behavior. Lovely quality in our leaders.

And while I don't always agree with "an eye for an eye" there are few more deserving a target of the politics of personal destruction than Newt Gingrich.

That question from King last night was stupid and generally offensive, and obviously King was underprepared to answer it.

But that was just his stupidity. It wasn't liberal stupidity.

/they should have baited him with social issue questions, waited for him to say something about family values, and then asked him.

Why is this stuff getting green-lighted all of a sudden? It isn't news. If it had a humorous headline it would be fine. I understand that Fark needs to appeal to as many people as possible, but at least make the submitters come up with a decent headline.

Its the media's fault that Republicans are racists and adulterers!

2012-01-20 10:19:15 AM
Here's a hint if you don't want coverage of your infidelities, back room deals, skimming of profits, hypocrisy or being a general dick: don't do it.

It's fairly simple. You don't want to go to jail for dealing heroin? Don't deal heroin. You don't want to go to jail for shooting up a post office? Don't shoot up a post office. Reporting of your behavior and positions isn't the problem, it's the fact that folks have done stuff, and taken those positions.

If you have problems with the fact that media is reporting the reprehensible crap that your reps and candidates are doing, but not complaining about what the candidates are doing, you got a problem, and you need f*cking help. Take some gottverdammt responsibility for a change. Say, "hey, maybe this guy/gal that I've been supporting isn't who I thought they were" and grow a little. This retreat into blaming the messenger is ridiculous.

If your reps KEEP getting caught doing crap that is embarrassing, scandalous, or just plain ebbil, then maybe you should stop supporting ebbil sh*t, not whining about how the media has it out for them for telling you that they're doing it. It's sort of like wanting to punch the weatherman for telling you it's raining downtown, and then crying "But I don't WANT to bring an umbrella!"

Grow the f*ck up people.

Grow the f*ck up.

It was so awkward to listen to Gingrich completely ignore the question, then blame someone else-- does he really think his base (wildly adoring debate audience aside) is stupid enough to fall for that?

just_ducky: It was so awkward to listen to Gingrich completely ignore the question, then blame someone else-- does he really think his base (wildly adoring debate audience aside) is stupid enough to fall for that?

Republicans are fed a steady diet of hate and suspicion from the hard right media. Listen to some AM radio for a while -- the shiat they come up with sounds like a farcical joke, but then just imagine what your brain would be like if you believed every single word of it as gospel.

Good point. I imagine it turning all swiss-cheese like, similar to rabid animals.

You know, for folks who like to consider themselves "self-made, rugged individuals", Republicans and Conservatives sure are a bunch of pant-wetting, paranoid, cry babies...

With Newt being the biggest cry baby of them all.

It's an overall attitude that the Family tries to cultivate. If you're in a position of power or influence, it's de facto evidence of God's favor and grace. And you should not be encumbered by the morals of liberal-revisionist Christianity.

The worst thing the media is doing to the GOP is televising their debates. Way worse than anything else they could do.

it's maddening that the media is all too willing to revive talk of Gingrich's past when they ignored John Edwards' affair, which was going on as he ran for president.

As usual, conservatives rewrite history. How can anyone say that the media ignored John Edwards' affair? Incredible.

It's unfair when you bring up our candidate's complete lack of fidelity and sexual morality, but it was totally cool when that candidate did the same thing in order to try to destroy a U.S. President 16 years ago.

It's the worst possible option.

He should have been open, said "I made a lot of mistakes as a lot of men do in their youth, but I have learned from my past. That's an important life lesson; without making these mistakes, I couldn't understand bla bla bla. Honesty is important to me, so I have no problem standing here telling you that I have made mistakes. If you feel that honesty, learning from mistakes, and being forthright and transparent to the American people is a bad thing, then I welcome you to vote for Fartbongo. Otherwise, I'm still on this stage."

If Newt wasn't such a pompous ass who thinks he's God's Gift To The World and that America owes him the presidency, he might not be having these problems.
