Rodgers said they had taken the trip to lift their spirits after her husband, Barry, and her father died last year. "We had planned to scatter Barry's ashes when the cruise passed Monaco, because Barry had always wanted to see the Monaco Grand Prix. It's dreadful but his ashes were lost on board the Concordia as well as other family heirlooms from my late mother and father.
Oh, and my 52" LED TV that I totally insisted on bringing into my stateroom. And a pony. And a choo-choo train.

There was no women and children first policy? Oh the horrors.
Life is not a movie nor is it still 1912.

What is she worried about? It's her husband who doesn't get to go to his final resting place, it's her husband who got burned.

Costa Cruises has confirmed it is contacting all surviving guests to make sure they have returned home safely and to offer a refund for the cruise and expenses relating to it.
and to try to get people to sign something saying they won't sue

I would say "children and those unable to swim, fend for themselves in cold water, or get in a lifeboat when the ship starts tipping over first", but that's me.

If the captain had remained on the boat instead of "falling" into a lifeboat, he might have been able to organize a better and more organized effort. Too bad they can't sue the captain instead.

There was certainly no 'women and children first' policy. It was disgusting."
Welcome to equality, biatch. How's that feminist empowerment working out for you? Oh, what's that? You want to retain privileges based on your gender? HAHA! No.

Same here. Though I would include a guardian for the children. So children, their guardian, and people who can't swim/too old/disability in the boats first.
I can swim so I have absolutely no problem not being on the boats first. The men who were pushing children out of the way though should be shot on sight for being cowardice assholes.

I bet Carnival's liability lawyers are going batshiat insane right now. I don't even wanna think of what their insurance agent is doing. Probably getting ready to hang himself. Maybe the same rope can be used for the Captain once he's done?

I don't think they are going to leave that wreck sitting there. But having your ashes recovered by a salvage company is awesome, I guess.

A few months ago, I quit a job where my boss was a HUGE HUGE HUGE cruise ship fanatic. She would delight in telling us about the cruises she had been on, the cruise she just got back from and the cruise she already had booked for six months from now. Oh, look at all these pictures of this awesome new ship I'm going on. I wish so much that I still worked there just so I could have some fun with this.
/last I heard, her house was in danger of being forclosed on, and she used to brag about how she spend 5 to 7 grand on a cruise twice a year.
//her husband (poor bastard) was a cool guy, and he HATED the cruises.
