Mike_LowELL: No outlining of criteria on a vague and nebulous topic that's not really worth discussing at all, determined through a thorough examination of nothing more than other second-hand sources and discussions of the topic, complete with the obligatory reference to Custer's Revenge as a mechanism to make it seem like the list examines the entire history of games but misses out on 1976's Death Race or 1992's Mortal Kombat as obvious candidates, compiled by people who I would have no reason to possibly think could be an authority on the topic of video games? Checks in-line with all the other crappy lists ever made.

Some of these are expected, others I have never heard of, and one (Reel Fishing) is a joke rating. I typically like Machinima's output, but this one was nothing special and was pretty much a waste of time.

So there is a worse way of doing a top ten list with than a slide show that reloads the whole page. The video could have used either a laugh track or a tinny midi sound track to hit maximum suck.

I couldn't get through reading that whole list, so here's a video of some guys reading it for you

First of all, this thing's ancient in Internet terms - the video has a popout for "NEW Halo:Reach Trailer footage!" It was also clearly made the summer that Mel Gibson went nuts (which was what, 2 years ago?).

The topic does have some merit, but awful made-up joke games aren't the way I'd hoped it'd go.

So, I'm guessing either trollmitter or someone related to the video trying to boost their Youtube ad revenues with old vids. Either way, it sucks.

Vid is blocked at the office, but perusal of the list leads me to agree with this thread.

Lacking: Manhunt, Manhunt 2, Conker, GTA3, Mortal Kombat, Carmageddon, Postal, Thrill Kill, Doom 2, Quake, No More Heroes, ...that's just off the top of my head/things I can recall generating a lot of controversy (that haven't been mentioned); doesn't include games that were offensive because they existed (Superman 64, Road Rash 64, etc)

I don't even see that "Kennedy Assassination Simulator" that got a bunch of press a couple years ago.

If you define offensive as "Getting Politicians and Oprah all incensed ", you have to include:

Grand theft Auto two times (for 'Hot Coffee' and 'Kill the Haitians")
Mortal Kombat
Six Days in Fallujah (cancelled prior to release, upset some because you can be Iraqis killing US troops)
Dragons Age (role playing as a homosexual, NTTAWT)
Everquest (Causes food and sleep deprivation, real life murders due to scamming)
Second Life (kinky role-playing)
The Witcher (Sex cards)
Wolfenstein (Nazi-related symbols)
Manhunt (snuff-related)

As someone who "plays" (occupies?) Second Life, let me just emphatically confirm this. It started off as a neat visual chat room and quickly devolved into being primarily a wank-bank and cyber-sex resource. Like the internet itself, really.

The part I find funny is that Linden Labs (the company that owns/runs SL) tries desperately to maintain this image of SL being a (potentially) wholesome, innocent endeavor, and every so often goes on some kind of cleanup/reform/purge kick to bring reality in line with that. Then, partway through implementing mandatory Adult verification, or forcing all sexually explicit sims off of the mainland, or whatever it is THAT week, they remember that about 75% of the real-world money that changes hands in SL is in some way related to smut and backpedal as hard as they can without looking like they are (e.g. "we meant Adult sims have to go to the OTHER mainland. Yeah, that's the ticket.").
