What about the elections that are held on the weekends? Are they still okay?

Man, I will laugh my ass off if he (meaning Herman Cain) wins SC.

He brings the lulz.

Hasn't Israel set up a super pac to stop RON PAUL?

/which of course is totally cool and anyone who disagrees is a raging anti-Semite

Trolling is a art.

/Especially when you have unlimited SuperPAC money

And once again, I yell "fark you, Hulu" as I impotently shake my tiny little fist towards my screen.

/not in Etats-Unis

Can we expect an ad narrated by John Goodman next, announcing Cain's endorsement by a stranger in the alps?

I'm torn.

On the one hand, yes, ha-ha, funny and all.

On the other hand, I'm not laughing. The AFABTT SuperPAC was set up explicitly to decry the obvious influence that SuperPAC money has on the electoral process, and while these ads are certainly ridiculous, I worry that they're not just diluting but harming their own message with the jokes.

I think the AFABTT messages as they're being done carry an accidental subtext, suggesting that anyone with half a brain can tell the difference between marketing bullshif and actual facts in a political commercial. What they should be pointing out is how much damage they can do, and how quickly they can spread their lies.

Are you and I watching the same ad? Between these ads and the segments on TDS and the CR they are holding a giant fun house mirror up our election process. Americans are being forced to see how stupid they look.

And the real joke is that it's not a fun house mirror. It's a regular mirror. That our system is the joke. This is the greatest satire/trolling in history. Hell I even donated them money to keep it going. It's about time politicians take a good hard look at themselves and see why they rock 30% approval ratings.

No they just use their influence in the media to pretend he doesn't exist.

So what would happen if, hypothetically, all of the Republicans decided to drop out of the race? They're all lieing scum and none of them has any hope at all of convincing anyone but hardcore conservative zealots to vote for them. So what if they just decided, "you know what? fark it." Would Obama win by default or would we still have to have an election with just a single name on the ballot?

Even if no one else runs, an election still has to be held with a single name on the ballot.

Are they really running these ads in South Carolina? That must make for some surreal moments when you go from serious program to comedic insert.

Generally third parties manage to squeeze their way onto the ballot one way or the other. Without a Republican candidate, one of them could emerge as the main contender of the race. Realistically they'd probably get smashed in the actual election, but it's not exactly realistic that the Republicans won't run anyone at all.

Even if no one ran against him, the election would still have to be held. People would have the opportunity to either vote for Obama or write in a candidate as they see fit.

If no one showed up to the polls, then I believe all candidates would have zero electoral votes (well short of the 270 needed to win), and the Presidency would be decided in the House of Representatives.
