Yeah, hardly newsflash worthy. But I do get the movie reference, so I +1'd it.

Best use of a Garth Brooks song in a movie starring Jesus

That was a really good movie.

Frequency was a surprisingly good movie!

I watched that and The Wedding Singer back-to-back and was weirded out that both films' heroines are named Julia Sullivan.

Dennis quaid movies generally are in that category. Kind of B+/A-- when you expect a C

I just watched a trailer (for Frequency) and it looks pretty good, I think I'll watch it tonight.

For the reference... I remember seeing the movie in a dollar theater that was so broke down the sound cut out a few times.

The highlight of that evening was a scene where they were running along, and someone foleyed the steps. It produced a laugh from the audience.

Sigh... I have to hold onto the good memories from that year, and try to forgive the bad.

It's worth a watch, nothing groundbreaking but all around decent flick. Definitely a father/son movie.

Talking to your dead relatives is easy. Getting them to talk back is the tough part.

I took my father to see Frequency on Father's Day, not a dry eye in the house.

****SPOILER ALERT****

The part toward the end when Quaid says "I'm here, champ!" really got (and still gets) to me. Wonderful movie.

If you want a Field of Dreams starring Dennis Quaid, check out The Rookie. Based on a true story and not bad.

M-class

Meh.

But a very long duration M-class. Probably more total x-ray emission than a good fraction of X-class flares, and a healthy-looking CME. The cloud is mostly headed off to the northeast of Earth, though.

Saw them twice in MD. First time was slightly overcast but you could see the red glow behind the clouds. Second time was black and clear. The GF came inside and asked why the sky suddenly turned red and green.

Had pics, but they've gotten lost over the years.

I still remember how much I expected that movie to suck, then how good it actually was.

Moral of the story, I guess, is that I was kind of a judgmental dick in 1999.

Wicked! I'm going to see them. I worked with Norwegians a couple of years ago, but never got a chance to go over there. In Canadian Rockies (Canmore, AL) and thought I saw them, but it was just the summer slight glow (dark blue) of the sun.

2012-01-20 02:35:48 AM
I'd have given that a "cool" tag.

...And of course it's supposed to be cloudy ALL FARKING WEEKEND. As it has been for each forecast aurora for the past few years.

The folks in charge of power grids and orbiting satellites will also be on guard to make sure the disturbance in the (geomagnetic) force won't be disruptive.

What? They gonna swat it away from the lines? Shoo!

I think they might, but there is more light pollution in Europe, so they don't see them.
