First, if the scammers leave the victims after they have deposited the money and handed over their atm card and PIN, wouldn't you immediately call the bank to cancel that card and or change the PIN? Secondly, if you are going to pull a gun on anyone who isn't going to go along with your scam willingly, why bother with it at all? Why not just rob people at an ATM? And how do you charge this once they are busted? Fraud? armed robbery? Is there such a thing as armed fraud?

Presumably they didn't cancel their ATM card because they believed the scam and thought they were going to get the bogus deposit. Which is why you wouldn't just rob the fools.
