And now just Romney. I can't see even Southerners going for an "open marriage" kind of guy.

Maybe Newt can get Romney to agree to an open nomination.

The average GOP voter and their spouse/cousin will vote for Newtie. Sadly, we fear four more years of Obama waaaaaayyyyy more than a man with several ex wives and a gigantic head. Even with that whole sitting on the couch with Pelosi thing. Even that.

Thank you,

A lifelong republican

Disclaimer - I'm not in anyway a Republican.

What is it exactly that you guys fear?

I mean I don't like the notion of banning gays from marrying - it makes me think people that want to do it are assholes but I'm not 'afraid' of it.

But I often hear Republicans say they're 'afraid' of something. In this case I'm wondering what frightens you/them?

For once i agree with you. Ron Paul won't drop out, not because he has a chance of winning, but because he is delusional.

Too bad it isn't really funny.

From the link in the article about the interview with Marianne, Newt's second wife:

After that, Gingrich started to deteriorate. There were times, Marianne says, when he wasn't functioning. He started yelling at people, which he'd never done before, and he'd get weirdly "overfocused" on getting things done - manic, as if he was running out of time. He took to taking meetings while eating, slurping his food, as if he wasn't aware or didn't care how strange it looked. The staff responded with gallows humor: "He's a sociopath, but he's our sociopath."

I have never heard Newt Gingrich's relationship to the Republican party described so succinctly.

No one but you and a few other boneheads ever counted him in. I will bet you the title to my house AND throw in a lifetime of indentured servitude - Ron Paul will never be president, nor will he ever be the Republican nominee for president. Ever.

It might be interesting, with the recent change in the Iowa results, if there was a second, unexpected wave of Santorum all over South Carolina.

I'm not going to take that bet but I will say, of all the clowns in the parade (including Obama), Dr Paul is the only one consistent and talking sense. He's gaining a lot of support and he has the strongest National apparatus of any of the Pubs.

If you're black and live in certain US states, you won't even have to make that bet if Ron Paul ever became president.

I don't actually think he's a troll for a number of reasons.

He predates the wider influence of the trolls first of all but more importantly he's kept up a fairly consistent persona; albeit one that has evolved over time.

His just gradually gotten crazier and more frightened.

So you'd be ok if instead of the federal government sending people to jail for drugs all 50 states passed laws executing people for the same crime? States rights!

[the robot antenna rises from his head]

"He's just not the right man for the job."

That's code for "he's a blah person."

Which is code for "he's not white."

Pretty much anything that they can come up on why they don't like Obama boils down one of two refutations:

1) They're flat-out wrong about what they think they know
2) The Republicans in power would do the very thing that they're disappointed in Obama about, only to a much greater degree

"Obama raised taxes!"

No, he didn't.

"Obama signed the NDAA!"

True. And the GOP would like to go a lot further than that if they had one of their men in charge.

didn't say we don't. We're voting on President, not husband of the year. He's not my choice either, but mark these words, Republicans will vote for him. This is an election about a sitting President, I believe Ron Paul or his dog would be better than Obama.

In what respect Chindit?

Seriously. In what way would Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul's dog be better than Obama? I'm calling you out right now. Please tell me what these candidates will offer that would realistically make them a better President than Obama. It must be something that would outweigh:

Destroying the rights of Gays to marry or even be Gay.
Give massive tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations (even though they are the only ones that can afford it).
Reduce the separation of Church and State.

I'm not going to get too much into the pedantic here, but if you notice the posting style, it went from the sincere to the "let's just piss off liberals no matter." Self-admitted, even.

At some point you have to just kick it in the balls and send it off. It's not even entertaining anymore.
