(Gizmodo) Interesting Now you can get throttled by Virgin too. Submitter had to pay extra for that back in the day   (gizmodo.com) divider line 13

Back when my phone was on Virgin Mobile, I couldn't get fast enough service to even go through that much data.

Liking T-Mobiles 5GB of HSPA service for $30 much more.

Currently have Virgin. With the speed I get there is no way I'll reach the amount at which they throttle.

same here...have Virgin moble...pay $50 for both me and Mrs. FinFang.

The service is pretty sluggish, so I'm not worried about it. Plus I don't rely on my phone for my data applications. I just wait till I'm home.

I think this is ok as long as they stop calling it 'unlimited'... which they won't.

I'm just the opposite. I pretty much only use my phone for data, so Virgin wasn't a great option and I dropped them once T-Mobile came out with their $30 100 minute/5GB plan. I think I had about 80 minutes left on my month that just ended. It's also nice to have a much wider phone selection.

As somebody who pays $5/mo for Virgin Mobile -- I'm guessing I won't care about this at all

Tmo is nice, right up until I pass the 5 GB. Fortunately, there's usually only a week or less in the month, but my bus rides are much less interesting without Netflix.

Still, I suppose Tmo has the most generous plan these days. Sprint advertises no throttling, no caps, but their service is really expensive.

Virgin is a Sprint reseller, so I'm guessing throttling and caps are coming.

Sprint owns Virgin Mobile USA. What's crazy is if you look at Virgin Mobile Canada, they have far more phone options. As does Virgin Mobile in the UK. You can get an iPhone from Virgin Mobile in Canada and it's the same sort of prepaid like it is in the US.

I pay $80/month for Sprint. I have an employee discount as a "friend" of an employee of a partner company (found the info he posted online). The speeds are faster than with Virgin on 3G, and the selection of handsets is better. I have yet to be throttled (with 10-15 GB/month being typical data use).

If they are coming to Sprint, I'm getting out of my contract.

I would too, I pay way too damn much money to be throttled on my phone

Hopefully, I'll be grandfathered. If not, I'll raise hell and go to Verizon or something.
