4:10 is what I would resort to if I sat this through 40 minutes of this.

If there were a pool of 100 floors and you only saw about 20 before the end, I'd probably play this a dozen times to catch them all.

But, if these floors are all you'll see, then the video ruins the whole mod. :(

*coughs, checks watch*

I can do that in real life, thanks.

the_sidewinder: Wait, why is this tagged "Mass Effect"?

Because those load times on the elevator made me wish I had drugs.

Is Gmod worth getting? Whenever I want to play around with the source engine I just load up Hammer and mess around. I'm imagining that Gmod is sort of a simplified version of Hammer with simplified tools and you manipulate the props in-game rather than in a level design program. Sounds like it would be more accessible to those who are not as familiar with Hammer as I got from making maps for Counter-Strike Source.

So they mention it once, in passing, and that makes it tag worthy?

Fark tags usually make no sense. Having something in the tags mentioned in the article once is a gift from the modmins.

Depends on what you want to do. It's been a while since I've last used Gmod so this might be out of touch. But basically Gmod is a big old sandbox or dollhouse. There's no real rules (there are some at a low technical level) and you can do what you want. You're able to combine various random pieces (props, actors, weapons) from HL2 and other source games, as well as 3rd party stuff, and make something new out of it. "Something new" being a new experience, in that combining Gman + a sombero could equal "Senor Killman, senior assassin for the GTown Mafia."

You can alter just about any parameter of those pieces, for instance the facial features to give the Gman that big "joker smile". You just can't construct the pieces in Gmod.

Where as if you want to make the actual sandbox/dollhouse/level (the BSP architecture, layout the static/dynamic scenery props, etc) then Hammer is more for that. Gmod does intersect with Hammer in that you can alter lighting and create some amount of scripting either.

Plus Gmod allows for many completely random but amusing videos on Youtube....

Gmod is great, it's a lot more fun to me than Minecraft in terms of creating things.
