That's because it sucks ass.
I typically don't resist change as a HABIT... even the Fark redesign was just fine with me.
But that lump of crap is a complete fiasco of a webpage.
I don't even look at peoples pages that are set up like that anymore.

I once heard someone term Facebook as "Ajax Masturbation". And that was the OLD design.

So true.

I knew this thing was a mess when the facebook narcissists started obsessing over the perfect cover pic. It has actually managed to increase post whoring to absurd levels, or else it will look like they had a boring life. Never mind that you spent so much time on facebook, which is insanely boring, it's all about the look.

The timeline feature will only help to emphasize how lame and uneventful my existence on this planet has become. :'(

Whats wrong with ajax? It makes the web work seamlessly. Even the new "Smart" and "Funny" buttons here on fark use it. How much would it suck if clicking the "smart" button meant you had to wait for the page to reload before you continued complaining about facebook on fark?

Facebook has been moving to a more power-user friendly format for a couple of years now, which would make sense if they charged per view or post, but they don't. Everything's grouped off, it's basically for those who have 1000 friends and the old format was too time intensive to go through it all. I would guess the vast majority of those who have accounts are casual users who only have 100-300 friends and who would prefer a straight posting board in chronological order. I post probably five times a year, do I really need to stare at those five posts all year long? I can't even find anything anymore because it self-selects which friends' posts are important enough for me to see. The only plus I see is the wallpaper photo is kind of cool, but the entire format of the page is distractingly haphazard, I don't know what I'm looking at or where I should be going. The design is much less logical than Myspace, in my opinion.
There is another plus, I spend much less time logging on, probably only once a week now when before I did daily.

Is this what they've been working on instead of making the iPhone app not suck. I actually deleted the app and put the webapp on my homescreen because the web app actually works.

I "unfriend" anyone who does that crap. Half of them I call and tell them to hit me up if and when they switch back.
It's garbage, looks like ass, and is about as easy to navigate as the Patriot Act.

I have two kids in college and one in high school. All three quit using Facebook over a year ago preferring Twitter and just plain old texting to communicate with friends.
I dont have a Facebook page but my wife does. She has about 200 friends. There are about 5 of her friends that post constantly and nobody else does at all (abandoned Facebook or just dont care anymore?)
To me it is starting to look like MYspace with everybody jumping on board when it was new but getting tired of it after a few years (or months, if you are a teenager)
Mark Z should have took this public last year and cashed out. Anecdotally, I feel it is in decline and fewer people will be using it on a regular basis.
That and the new Timeline thing sucks.

So basically, FB is going the route of SOE and making new content pretty much useless to the average person, instead making new expansions for high level raid guilds. I kind of like the idea of Timeline being Gates of Discord.

Same thing with me and the webOS app, which seriously sucks squirrel nuts. I still have it installed because it pops up a notification if someone messages me, but to actually read the message I just go to the webpage.
Of course, I only friend people I actually know, so I don't have 50,000 posts a day to go through.
