Is the 4G that's actually 4G or the fake 4G?

2012-01-19 09:44:28 AM
I bet all the 4LTE jobs are outsourced.

2012-01-19 09:45:16 AM
That's some spectacular flaming nonsense right there.

2012-01-19 09:46:05 AM
Plus if you spend a lot more money, you'll be put in a lower tax bracket, meaning you'll actually earn more money by spending more!

The nationwide switch from 2G to 3G technology led to the creation of 1.6 million jobs, the study's authors concluded.

How many jobs would it create if we just went right to 1 Brazillion G?

Plenty, but only in South America.

Ugh.. Why are they making it sound as if 4G coverage is equal to 3G coverage? 4G is only reliable if you're stationary. The signal is easily blocked, tons of dead zones. I live in a heavy 4G coverage area and I only trust it when I'll be somewhere for extended periods of time. Throw on Pandora and drive around and you're just going to have a bunch of cut outs as the service is lost, regained, lost, regained, lost, regained.

1.6 million new jobs...so how many jobs were lost during the same period?

You can bet your last dime that one or more congress critters will cite this "research" on the house or senate floor while justifying tax breaks for some or other telecom special interest.

1) Get "research" done.
2) Show it to congress critters
3) Slop at the money trough

I'm still waiting for my tax rebate for all the porn industry jobs I've personally created.

"Frankly, I didn't expect the numbers to be as good as they were," said Robert Shapiro, co-author of the study and former undersecretary of commerce during the Clinton administration. "We all knew there was job destruction associated with advancements in Internet technologies, but this proves that the job creation is significantly greater."

What it proves is that somebody is freaking looney tunes in the head.

"There is nothing linear about what people do with new technology," he said. "New generations of wireless networks create new use cases and businesses. We don't have a lot of data yet for 4G, but we have confidence that the effects we saw before will at least be duplicated, if not enhanced."

Why are you collecting data? You already wrote a paper and proved it.

Figures.

2012-01-19 09:59:36 AM
Are they sure that the correlation is THAT and not maybe "People get jobs, so people have money, so they upgrade their cell phone plan?"

2012-01-19 10:01:19 AM
Don't care.

2012-01-19 10:04:51 AM
Damn... I'm only 3G.

I will never escape this dreary, endless nightmare of middle-management.

A job creator? Like a Dr. Frankenstein kind of construction?

Hmm. Sounds like you work for mythbusters. I think they must have the same problem.

Hmm...they also say that buying a house will create jobs. So I should just buy more houses! and spend more money on 4G phones....1 for everyone, even the dog.

Eventually, I'll spend more than I make and will need to raise my household debt ceiling.

TFAThe growth of 4G networks will lead to job creation in a wide array of industries. Smartphone and tablet makers will ramp up production of 4G phones

All of which are made in China. At least we're stimulating SOMEBODYs economy.

It's only 3G outside the US/Canada (but works on 2G GSM networks anywhere), but this phone is damn near indestructible.

It's also water (and beer) proof. I've tested this first-hand (alcohol may have been a factor) and I could receive calls even with the phone immersed in a sink full of water and (later) a liter of beer in Munich's Oktoberfest.
