I recently rediscovered TJ Hooker on one of them weird upper-tier HD only cable channels....and it is freaking AWESOME. {cue '80s echoey drum solo}

Fortunately, a part of the Negotiator will always exist in the Nexus.

Oh geez, I hope they don't go with Naomi Price as a replacement...that could be worse!

"He's been a pitchman for Priceline for 14 years,"

WOW.
time flies when you're negotiating.

Remember when Spock wasn't really dead. Priceline negotiator transferred his mind into the cell phone, to come back to life in the next ad.

Shatner can always return to his singing career.

Once Priceline sees their mistake, he'll be back quicker than Netflix killed Qwikster.

FTFA:

Does Soder fear backlash from those fond of Shatner and the Negotiator?

"We certainly hope not. We had a great, long association with Mr. Shatner," Soder said, adding hastily, "I didn't mean to use the past tense. He's still under contract with us."

True, said Shatner, an indefatigable 80 years old. So whether they use him again or not, he said merrily, "I'm going to make them pay through the nose."

Awesome :)

He's been appearing in commercials for a Madison law firm for some time now.

Apparently he has side jobs. I wonder how much it costs to rent the Shat?

2012-01-19 10:06:52 AM
Well, they could have drowned him in a pool.

2012-01-19 10:13:52 AM
Actually, he's doing a one man Broadway show now. Fairly impressive for 80 years old.

I don't see this happening - Locklear is in bad shape, medically speaking

Hooker was already covered on SNL back in '86.

"Hooker, were you able to jump on the hood of the car?"
"Oh yeah!"

jmadisonbiii: [Denny Crane for President]

I believe there was a semi-serious effort to get Bill named Governor-General of Canada (that is, the person who does all the monarch-ing when the Queen of Canada is out of town, on account of also being Queen of England).

William Shatner is a freaking genius. Priceline approached him to do the commercials for a fee when they were a new company but he asked if he could have stock instead and creative control over the commercials. They agreed...He cashed out two years ago for over $600 million.

2012-01-19 12:52:32 PM
Oh. Fark no.

We need a Denny Lane movie. MUCH more interesting.

600 million? i read most of his early years were paid in stock options (had the choice) but most of it went down the toilet when the company almost folded.
i'm going to have to peek around on this one now.

True, but his cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is painful to listen to. I have a disc with that and Leonard Nimoy singing "Let it Be", along with a stellar tuba and banjo version of Stairway to Heaven.

Nimoy covering "Proud Mary" is pretty horrible/awesome.

She bartends at my favorite bar. Much hotter looking in person. She is very good too, remembers her regulars and buys their first drinks of the night.
