And children, the Polaroid was a device used to take pictures of your teenage girlfriend without leaving a digital trail.

yea, considering the age of the eastman-kodak company, i think it would be fair to try to answer this question in 100 years---"what was an iphone?"

OMG, yes. I got one of those in 1984 or so... you couldn't take a clear picture with it to save your life. Absolute crap.

when my 13 year old daughter heard that Kodak was going bust she told us she finally gets what we are saying when we say "Kodak moment." She had no idea what we were talking about before this.

Nah years from now the kid will more likely say "What is an iPhone."

I hope in 20 years our kids will be asking "What was an Internet Slide Show?"

If SOPA/PIPA becomes law: What's an "Internet"?

I was cleaning one of my antique cameras over the weekend and found an exposed roll of Kodak 120 film in it. I doubt the film is any good, but it would be interesting to see what the camera saw all those years ago.

I bet half of the cameras in my collection are Kodaks.

C'mon. By then, your kids will be asking you "What's an iPhone?"

They actually took very clear pictures. The problem was that the negative was so small that it looked like crap after you blew it up to photo size.

Hopefully the Eastman House and Museum will survive this turmoil.

Behind this house is a vault with one of the most impressive collections of photographs and early motion pictures. They've been working for decades to preserve as much of the old silver nitrate-based films as possible.

I came here thinking, "Brownie". That was my parents generations camera. Everyone seemed to have one. And I just flashed on the flash and those bulbs that could be popped out after they were spent.

I recommend Ilford for when your stockpile runs out.

I've got a Brownie #2. It's just a decoration at this point.

The folks at Deutscheoptik (new window), are selling, among other things, various antique film cameras. Apparently, they are becoming quite collectible.
