Pretty much. Now that even the state schools have taken over fencing (Penn State is a powerhouse), the Ivy Leagues and the other traditionally in-bred upper class liberal arts colleges are left primarily with squash and crew as sports in which they are still relevant.
They're a long way from those football national championships.

An alum here. It was a crazy record. Ive been to many matches, and some were damn close. Harvard and Yale nipped at our heels for years. I remember a match where it came down to the last game and we were down 5 and the trinity player rallied to win. The place went bananas.
But seriously, no one recruits for squash like Trinity. They are insane about it.

I know this is probably mean... but... am I the only one that wishes there was a nationally-televised game where some "commoners' school" absolutely murdered an Ivy League school (preferably Harvard or Yale) in football? I mean, not LSU, Oregon, or Alabama... but some school like Georgia, Mizzou, K-State, Nebraska, or Michigan. Some school that's good enough to grind them into hamburger and wipe the floor with them but not good enough make the match outcome incredibly obvious. Something to make those elitist dweebs realize they're not all they're cracked up to be.
I'm not a very populist person, but there's something about that thought that makes me happy. Oh well. A man can dream...

There are four players in the NFL right now who went to Harvard. Despite not being what it was, it's not an awful program.

Dude, that would make them even more elitist. Just imagine: they all have 4.0 GPAs and 1600 SATs and hung in with drooling morons who can barely spell their names. 90% the athlete but 100 times smarter. Oh, and when it's all over they'll have a degree from an Ivy League school, not Podunk U. You're not wrecking their egos, you're

What's the point? They know they're not an elite program. They deliberately opted out of that race when they went I-AA. You're not teaching anybody anything, and you're (probably) not even beating up the right nerds.

I would imagine that if you are going to an Ivy League school, athletic prowess is not the most important aspect of your ego. Intelligence, wealth, and the best starting path to many lucrative careers would all certainly make me feel ok that I lost a football game.
At the end of the day, the State school grads are more likely to end up like Al Bundy, reminding everyone that they used to be good at football. The Ivy Leaguers will still have better days ahead of them.
