Now that's what I call "killing two birds with one car."

Twofer!

I love stupid criminals. When cops are busy catching stupid criminals, they aren't shiatting on honest people's Constitutional rights.

The other day I found out just how easy it is to cross the line from law-abiding citizen to criminal. Pay your speeding tickets people...

But stupid criminals don't keep the cops busy for long enough. If only there were a way to encourage the stupid to make more of them.

Given what's been passed as new law going on the books, it's becoming more difficult not to be wanted by the police in the first place.

He should spin it and say that should be shown leniency because he helped catch another wanted criminal.

Yup. Had a friend who had a ticket turn into failure to comply, turn into a suspended license, then around that same time he moved states. Decided he wanted to get his Driver's License again a few years later. He found out about the suspended license when he applied, called up the original state and found out he had to fly back out, turn himself in, spend the weekend in county to go to court on Monday, pay his fine and the fine's on the fine, and the court cost, etc. Not saying it's unreasonable for the government to expect you to pay your fines, just saying that if you don't, it can in fact get ugly. (They also said that by calling he had effectively turned himself in, and if he didn't show up by Friday they'd send someone. Because that seems like a worthwhile use of tax dollars.)

So, he did it because he wanted a lighter sentence? Right. In other words, he wasn't running from the cops, he was helping them catch the other wanted guy.
