I am probably in the minority, here, but I think that's kind of funny. I mean, when a man sets himself on fire, you don't expect him to die from blunt-force trauma, do you?

2012-01-19 09:48:19 AM
Yeah, I don't really see the problem here. Dude wanted to kill himself, so they helped him out a little.

So the cops opened fire into a crowd... and only wounded two people? Not likely

I'm suprised they didn't use their Guns on him. I just hope they put some Roses at his burial site.

I like how people are still shocked to learn China may have human rights issues.

Anyone else think of how extraordinary it is that a guy can set himself on fire and remain calm? The pain must be unbearable, surely one of the most horrific ways to die, yet he continued with his message. You know, before the beatings started.

Think about that. Things must be pretty damned bad to focus one's mind that sharply and to demand the ultimate sacrifice, and for police to want him to STFU so badly that they'll bludgeon him in front of a crowd. Don't think for a moment that China values human life. Not even a little.

Not sure if trolling or stupid? Internet access is very limited in Tibet. In Vietnam, you can use proxy servers for Facebook, but it's stricter in China.

Tibetans in China... say their culture is being eroded by an influx of majority Han Chinese people in the areas they live in.

Problem: Disdain for the race of people moving into your neighborhood.

Solution: Set yourself on fire.

Suicide is illegal there and harshly punished.

Being beaten to death by cops is perfectly legal.

They were doing the guy a favor.

Losang Jamyang set himself on fire Saturday in Sichuan province, rights groups and the Tibetan government-in-exile said, making him the 16th Tibetan to do so in less than a year to protest against perceived repression.

Fixed TFA. It's not biased if you're telling the truth, dipshiats.

In other words, you have zero clue about what's been happening in Tibet for decades now. The Chinese government has encouraged Han Chinese to move to Tibet ever since a 1959 revolt there. It's a deliberate effort to outnumber and dilute the native Tibetan population.

They've tried some crazy shiat to oppress Tibet. China even picked their own replacement for the Dalai Lama after they didn't like the boy he chose for reincarnation. No, really. Peking's Panchen Lama, whose name is Gyaincain Norbu, was enthroned by China in 1995 (new window) after the Dalai Lama angered Peking by choosing a different reincarnation.

It's the power of Buddhist meditation. Seriously.

Read this:
ecx.images-amazon.com

When the Dalai Lama was asked about how he felt about the Chinese and how they destroyed Buddhist temples and killed the monks and nuns he replied, "I feel very sorry for the Chinese." That's when I knew that, eventually, the Tibetans would win.

And it'll work. Just like it worked in Manchuria.

And they go home and tell their wives: "There was a horrible accident at work. I needed to mace this protester, but I got a spiky mace instead of the spicy one. I... I think it was mislabeled."

Seriously, what's it like when you come home after doing something this callous?
