"wet salad" is a phrase that needs to never be used.

that said, I'm fond of carrot salad with pineapple. or a good vinegary cole slaw.

The worst deli salad I ever saw was when I worked in a deli back in Newfoundland. They had this salad that was basically mayo, canned corn, and canned pineapple mixed together. It looked like puke. The taste wasn't far off.

If it's made well I sort of like vinegar based cole slaw.

I make a kickass Mediterranean pasta salad.

tri-color rotini
feta cheese
oil cured olives
capers
zucchini wedges
cherry or grape tomatoes
Greek dressing.

Best if made a day ahead, so the flavors meld.

The trick to making a good vinegar slaw is to make it at least 24 hours ahead of time.

That said, it ain't cole slaw unless it's 30% mayo.

Newfies, man.

They also had a mustard potato salad which was....mustard mixed into mashed potatoes. A beet potato salad...which was tinned beets mixed into mashed potatoes. Top sellers.

Meanwhile the ricotta and spinach tortellini salad in a Mediterranean vinagarette went ignored.

I must say though, the American version is awful. Doesn't even have the same ingredients in Canada.

I compared the ingredients between mayo and the Canadian Miracle Whip and the only difference was, the Miracle Whip had more sugar and spices.

I used to add sugar and cayenne pepper to regular mayo.

But the sugar is what makes it gross. Mayo is supposed to be savory.
