Not a comedy but a damn funny show.

That's how all great dramas are. The Soprano's, The Wire, Deadwood, The West Wing? All funny as fark at one time or another.

Breaking Bad, too.

It can be as grim as hell, but it's not without some great comedic moments.

And yes, I *love* Justified. Really dug the premiere last night.

Great show.

Great music.

Goddamn right it was. "Justified" is awesome.

Great show, needs to rid itself of Wynona post-haste. Can'think of a more grating character in the last few years except for maybe the slut wife in The Unit and Tea Leoni in Jurassic Park III?

ShamWowofDamocles: Great show.

Great music.

Exactly that.

From "Long Hard Times to Come" in the credits to "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" in the finales and all points in between, the music is boss.

robsul82: Goddamn right it was. "Justified" is awesome.

With Breaking Bad out of commission until... whenever, Justified *needed* to come back.

Olyphant rocks in the lead, and Goggins keeps bringing it time and time again.

Yes. Yes it was.

Line of the night: "I could talk into the radio and tell everyone what to do." "That's my job, asshole."

Mr. Chainsaw: Yes. Yes it was.

Heh, that was solid, aye!

My favorite exchange?

"Her bank accounts have been seized, along with her property, but there's still a sizeable amount of money missing."

"How sizeable?"

"Well over ten dollars."

My DVR betrayed me for the last time.

Justified really does a great job reloading after such explosive season finales. This premiere was much stronger than last season's, although the scenes from the season 2 premiere involving paperwork and interviews were refreshing and well done.

I'm a little shocked there hasn't been a finale thread for Sherlock's second season. That was an amazing 1.5 hours of television.

Great episode last night, but I was offended when that one guy put Pappy Van Winkle bourbon into his cup of coffee.

2012-01-18 07:39:54 PM
The ending was perfect last night. I was rapidly running through options during the countdown, will he pull another gun? Will he just try to punch him in the face? Will he distract him somehow? Knock over the table? What What?

And then just a simple, sweet little move and calmly picks up the gun and fires. Beautiful.

2012-01-18 07:44:57 PM
I just wish the carpet bagger killed Duffy, too. That jerk (or actually, his character) freaking RUINED Burn Notice. I was so pissed off w/ that character, I haven't seen a single episode since he became "the big bad guy" on Burn Notice. Awful.

That's what I loved, the simplicity of it.

You knew Raylan was gonna do something crafty, but you just didn't know what.

Doogled: Justified really does a great job reloading after such explosive season finales. This premiere was much stronger than last season's, although the scenes from the season 2 premiere involving paperwork and interviews were refreshing and well done.

To see Raylan going after paper clips and staples was worth a few good chuckles.

The_Sponge: Great episode last night, but I was offended when that one guy put Pappy Van Winkle bourbon into his cup of coffee.

I'm not a drinking man, so I assume that would be a bad thing, then?

Anywho, can't wait for Mykelti "Bubba Blue" Williamson to show up as another antagonist.

Neal McDonough wasn't too bad as the Detroit gangster, either.

Trocadero: I just wish the carpet bagger killed Duffy, too. That jerk (or actually, his character) freaking RUINED Burn Notice. I was so pissed off w/ that character, I haven't seen a single episode since he became "the big bad guy" on Burn Notice. Awful.

For whatever it's worth, that actor didn't ruin Breaking Bad, so that's one for him.

"Boyd, I've been to Mexico and I don't think you'd like it much."
"How so?"
"Well, there's a lot of Mexicans."

I loved when I realized at the end that Boyd had assaulted Raylan just so he could get into prison with Dickie.

Can't wait to see how they treat this subplot.

I imagine that it'll end well for Dickie at *all.*

Err, I CAN'T imagine that it'll end well for Dickie at all, rather.

So noted, then.

For once, I agree with the Fark status quo. Justified is scary good. The only thing about it that sucks is it simultaneously makes me miss both Deadwood AND The Shield.

Good call, that.

I'm just glad to see Walton Goggins continuing to do some great character work.

Good kickoff to the season, though I kind of was expecting the hitman to last longer than just one episode. Seemed like a formidable B-villain.

I'm also wondering if they'll trot out anyone else from the Deadwood cast (FX has poached that show pretty well for Justified and Sons of Anarchy). Maybe put Mr. Wu as a laundromat owner/meth kingpin.

In all fairness, I don't think Raylan fatally shot him.

Perhaps we haven't seen the last of him?

If I remember correctly, Boyd Crowder was never intended to be a recurring character (meaning, survive getting shot), but the producers realized the greatness they had and rewrote the plot.

I'm guessing any thoughts of getting rid of "Ice Pick" Nix were altered in the same way, if they ever existed at all. The dude owned every scene he was in.

I just finished watching this episode, and I have to agree with the rest of y'all. Season 3 will be badass.

/Timothy Olyphant might just have replaced David Duchovney as my man-crush.

That's correct, aye!

Along those same lines, the Jesse Pinkman character was never supposed to live past the first season of Breaking Bad, but... well, he lived past it.

In both cases, those were smart moves, as both characters/actors brought so much to their respective shows.

I'd love to see him return. He had an Anton Chigurh-ish vibe to him.

Ugly Baby Judges You: I just finished watching this episode, and I have to agree with the rest of y'all. Season 3 will be badass.

And they haven't even brought in the Mykelti Williamson character yet!

THAT'S when things are gonna get really badass, I would imagine!

Olyphant and Goggins have great comedic chemistry. The more scenes they share this season, the better.

Wayne 985: Never seen this show

Go for the first two seasons on DVD. Trust me, you WON'T be disappointed.

If you can make it three episodes into Season One and NOT want to keep watching straight through to last night's episode, I'll eat my hat!

Actually, my favorite line of the night came at the end, when he looked at Wynona and said 'Sorry about your table cloth'.

Every character in this show is strong. If They don't give Wynona some depth then she's gotta go

Four fairly random episodes(including the pilot) here. (new window)

And FX will rerun this week's episode a few times including next Tuesday after two showings of next week's.

I'm already paying for Netflix streaming. My point was just that I didn't know if a single show was enough to warrant another $7.99 since Justified is only available through DVD.

Apologies.

My suggestion, then, would be to watch the pilot for free at fxnetworks.com. If you get hooked, go to Amazon and shell out the $20 for a used copy ($16 + SH) or $20 for the digital downloads.

Also, there are Blockbusters across America that are selling their inventory dirt cheap.
