As a person who was once bawled out by a huge twat parent for not letting her snowflake go to the bathroom 20 minutes before school was out, I'm really getting a kick out of this contest.

Since when can't kids hold it? Don't you need to be potty trained to get into school, which includes waiting until a convenient time? In elementary school we had two recesses and a lunch. That was the ONLY time you were allowed to go to the bathroom unless you had a note from you parents because you were sick or had a condition. I never remember it being a problem at all.

I can understand the reasoning behind not letting the little shiats out every 5 minutes to go pee. I can also understand the distraction that having sharp pains in your pelvic region can cause.

But If I was a parent my kid would not get my sympathy unless he had a medical condition. After 3rd grade, I guess.. Kids don't quite understand their bodies when they're younger.. at least not all of them.

I agree, but this policy almost makes it seem like having to pee once a week is the same as cutting class to smoke cigarettes or something. Sometimes one sneaks up on you, especially when you're a kid.

Plus I feel like it might be aimed at the kid with the bladder problem, which is not cool.

Kids will do anything if it's a contest, though. Also, my high school students sometimes try to ask for passes twice in one 40 minute class period. By sometimes, I mean, every day, so I get what they're doing.

My parents told me that if I ever REALLY needed to go, I was to first ask the teacher. If the teacher said no, I was to walk out of the room and go to the bathroom anyway, completely ignoring the teacher. If the teacher was stupid enough to physically block me, I had their permission to pee and/or throw up on the teacher.

I think I only ever had to just walk out of the room once or twice. Never had one try to stop me.
