A police officer says he had only seconds to react to what he calls an dog before he opened fire.

I want to shoot both the writer and the editor in the face.

Nah, I lost a frisbee over the fence while playing horseshoes. The dog was ok that time

Shooting dogs is just an fringe benefit of being an policeman.

Maybe the asshole could have acted like any unarmed citizen would have and tried to calm an dog. An cop has the itchy nose-picker.

Never, ever, ever let your dog run. At all. Ever. Every second they run, they could get shot by a skittish trigger-happy cop.

" And she went running around the grass, and I heard one bar and then a shot. And I thought they had Tased her," said Hart.

Good thing J school students don't get paid by the letter.

I heard a bar once. It said: "Harry! Come inside and have a beer."

Meh, the mutt and the owner had it coming. If you can't keep control of your animal they and you get what they deserve.

The cop was starting to hum a Ted Nugent song before he shot the dog.

But owners of the Labrador-mix named Athena claim the dog would never lunge or growl at anyone.

Just once I would like to hear a dog owner say "Yeah, I didn't have him on a leash. He is usually friendly but sometimes he just likes to bite someone."

The article then went on to say, "The Bellingham PD is urging anyone with incredibly furry children to keep them inside, or at least to not let them retrieve Frisbees..."

Why are cops so farking afraid of everything? I swear cops have become like nervous little monkeys with deadly weapons. You're just one "furtive" movement away from scaring the shiat out of it and getting your head blown off.

Officers are trained to deal with a variety of circumstances.

Circumstance A: Robbery
Solution: Shoot him

Circumstance B: Arson
Solution: Shoot him

Circumstance C: Dog
Solution: Shoot him

I don't see the training being that difficult.

They have to make split decisions

Can I get away with killing something.

Are police the most cowardly group. Time and time again we here the weak refrain "I felt threatened."

To all the people saying "bad cop", what would you have done?

2012-01-18 01:50:59 PM
A cop could shoot and kill a girl scout troop selling cookies for being on his property and the "investigation" would find no wrong-doing. Does anyone think for a moment that they'll find any wrong-doing over shooting a dog? And good luck getting an apology from a cop. I wouldn't be surprised if his next move is to arrest and tase the dog's owner and charge her with assault and resisting arrest. Finally, he'll head to the vet and finish off the dog.

I guess it's only reasonable to bring a gun to a fire fight.

I am no cop lover, I just don't like dogs either. If the dog had mauled the cop it wouldn't bother me.

I love how the dog owners say "Labrador mix" when anybody with even a little knowledge of dogs can plainly see that that dog could more accurately be described as "pit bull mix". Not to say that pit bulls should be shot, but if the owners expect me to believe that their dog was a happy-go-lucky lab that the trigger-happy cop shot, I wonder what else they might be being deceitful about.

So what if it was a pitbull mix? That justifies shooting the dog in the face in the middle of a public park? Like the cop had never seen a dog chasing a frisbee before?

farking christ on a stick, you bootlickers will blindly accept anything an authority figure does, won't you?

Any normal human being would have just given the frisbee back. Sort of like if we lived in a civilized society.

I know... Every time I read one of these stories it just makes me more and more paranoid about taking my little buddy outside. He's a super sweet, happy loving puppy who wants to get everyone to pet and love him..... so I keep worrying about some trigger-happy cop with personal issues shooting him when he tries to get some love from one and the cop shooting him in the face.

I always keep him on a leash (and he's trained to stay right next to my left leg when we walk around) unless it's in the dog park, but I don't think I'll be letting him anywhere near any cops when we walk around. In fact, I think I'll just keep myself in between him and any cops. If the cop shoots me for no good reason he may possibly end up getting in trouble for it eventually. If he shoots my dog he'll get off scott-free for sure.

He didn't want to shoot the dog. In fact, it really tore him up to do it and he feels real bad about doing it.
But he did it anyway, even though it would make everyone unhappy, because...
