I use thermal generators in my work, and while they are truly wonderful things (Natural gas goes in, heat and electricity come out - no moving parts, ten year run time), the price point dropping or the efficiency rising would be just lovely.

If this can drive the price point for thermoelectrics down sufficiently, I'm sure we'll see some absolutely bizarre applications. The fan on the wood stove is just the start...

So, in theory, instead of roasting my balls and making me infertile, the heat generated by the processor in my laptop could be converted into energy that could be used to help power my laptop, thus increasing battery life? Sign me up!

I found it funny that the article states we might be able to use these devices to cool computer chips some day. People were using peltier (TEC) devices to cool CPUs for overclocking back in 1998.

I used one with an Alpha heatsink and one with a water jacket I copied from TNPROUD2B's design at the hardwarecentral forum back in the day.
