That would be awesome, but should be for everyone. The point isn't just to make life hard for people supporting SOPA/PIPA, it's to make the whole population aware of the implications. It's too bad Google has said they won't fiddle with search results, or that could be the first result as well.

No need to shut down entirely, since it seems no one else is (at least not that I've found yet). But sending you to a black screen with a link to continue to your search when you hit search seems like it would catch more peoples' attention than an icon that the majority of people will probably ignore. The "black/white screen plus continue on option" seems to be the preferred choice of everyone else.

"Hrm, a black square. I wonder what that is...oh well, whatever, SEARCH."

No because the less than tech savy people need a way to actually search for their congress rep's name and learn waht SOPA/PIPA is. Without google I think most would be out of luck.

I've gotten several emails already this morning from friends, family and clients. If they had messed with the search engine itself, those same people would have just figured there was a problem and never looked further. Mission accomplished for Google, I think.
