I think it's cute.

Not the dress, it's gaudy. But the fact that she's clearly well grounded and laid back enough to show up to a major event in a dress her daughter picked out is adorable.

The dress has a tie-dye look that I suppose is too informal. But really, why would anyone give a flying fark about formality or lack thereof at the Golden Globes anyway? It isn't like there aren't a million other events throughout the year for celebrities to get all dressed up and pat themselves on the back.
