Plus he's 43, and no one has ever won a wrestling medal after the age of 37. It would be impressive enough if any 43-year-old medaled in wrestling, let alone one with a decade plus of hard living.

You know, I kind of think that's the brilliant part of it all. If he fails, then he will have lost nothing, since who expected him to succeed anyway? But if he does succeed... now that will be a hell of a story.

This is exactly why the Olympics are unwatchable in the United States. Instead of actually showing the Olympics, they show fluff pieces about people crying. Chances are if he makes it the wrestling coverage will consist of 30 minutes of sappy video, 45 seconds of actual wresting, and 29 minutes and 15 seconds of gymnastics previews.

Actually NBC has gotten better, at the last summer Olympics you could watch wrestling online, and much of it with no commentary even. Also they did show some on one of NBC's networks. I'm hoping they do the online thing again, was fun watching sports with no commentary or in some cases just a single commentator.

Here's Dana himself confirming the medical failure (more NSFW) BUT I don't think it was PEDs that did him in. Dana wouldn't keep that under his hat if that was the reason.


Either Kurt was never serious about it or just thought he could make some quick cash like James Toney.

Kurt won that medal WITH A BROKEN FREAKIN NECK! I believe in Angle just because nobody is more hellbent than he. Angle really hasn't wrestled that much for TNA in recent months, his body should be healthier than it has been. Id like to believe he's no longer addicted to pain medication as well. Hopefully he can go in there and wrestle for real!

Angle's attempt at getting into season 10 of TUF was a few years ago. It's doubtful his first sanctioned match would have debuted on Fox.

I wish him luck. The odds are definitely stacked against these older athletes who are trying to make a comeback. Dara Torres is likely an anomaly; I just don't see most athletes over 35 being able to compete physically against younger competition.
