I'd agree if this required anything nerdy... Not your fault, though - the headline is a bit misleading, because the fact that the guy's a software engineer is irrelevant. More realistic would be "Guy whose iPad was stolen receives photos taken by thief on his iCloud account, posts them to his Facebook page to seek help in recognizing thief."

Are you suggesting perhaps that I actually read the article before posting idiotic comments?

Exactly. Or you just log into "find my iPhone" and get the location the person is at.

It doesn't matter since the cops don't give a shiat. Like they are going to get up over a $600 toy computer? Give me a break.

yup, used that to get back my company iphone this weekend. I went out drinking after work on a Friday which I am apt to do and lo and behold someone walked out with my jacket, which had my work iphone in it.

It's path went from downtown Calgary to the far north end of Calgary that night. Then by the next night it went to another location of the same bar chain in south Calgary when they noticed the please call me number from find my iphone.

I picked it up last night.

I was going to comment that I was under the impression that iPhones had a free locator service, but I see that's been covered. Still, let's not let this go to waste

I'm using Lookout Mobile Security on my Galaxy S. Not getting paid by the company, but I can't praise it high enough.

Free. It can activated GPS on your phone through its website and mark it down on the map for you. It also make the phone sound obnoxious loud alarm. It can delete all your information stored in the phone if you so choose.

I thought I lost my phone a couple week ago. Logged on to my website to locate it... Turn out It's in my apartment... in bottom of my laundry.

Well it wouldn't have even been stolen, were it an Android device!

Mr Clarke told Yahoo news: 'I don't want to say it was stolen get sued as they may have found it on the floor of Tesco's car park.

Do iPads now grow organically on the floor of Tesco's car park? Finders keepers, eh? Look, I found this car in this guys driveway.

I thinks it's because everyone's there for a piece of the oil money and once they have it, they think their shiat don't stink. Beautiful city, it's the people that suck. That's why I left after 5 years.

As an owner of an iPad 2, it is super strange seeing people do that.

Oh, the speculation game. I love this one.

Maybe the reason why you're on the computer surfing fark right now is because you're trying to distract yourself from your need to rape the 5 year old boy you've got tied up in your basement.

Wow, attributing unverfiable motives to people in slanderous ways so that I can be justified in being a misanthrope has never been so much fun. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do with myself without Fark (I do however, know what you'd do without it - you sick bastard. LET THAT BOY GO!)

Or, he could have a wifi only iPad with no GPS. Or, he could have turned off location services to save on battery life.

Boring... Bloke uses software he paid for to do its job.... it is only a miracle in Apple land. The real story here is why was a software engineer, someone who is supposed to know about software, using a piece of cr*p from Apple?

No man, the real problem is that if he was able to look at the icloud pictures taken after it was stolen by some random strangers, that mean that the so-called software engineer didn't even use simple password protection on his ipad. And that means that the all his ipad wasn't reformatted or set back to default factory setting, meaning he didn't have rudimentary GPS location program or remote data wiping program installed on it.

Aside from everything you do on the internet?

I hate to break it to you, but if you have ever paid for anything with anything but cash your information is in the cloud.

Does it farking ever. Luckily it's so cold this week the shiat comes out frozen which really minimizes the smell.
