Perhaps some day he can avenge the loss to Swansea...

If they get him early enough they can perfect his rolling-around-knee-clutching before he even hits college.

Is this the thread where you biatch about how AW is not spending the money to keep the team in the European places?

Yes it is, and yes, I will. Arsenal has exactly one fit striker and the entire back four sitting on the bench with injuries, and Arsenal is f*cking around signing Van Persie's son. That's cute, Arsenal...heartwarming story. Meanwhile Cahill went to Chelsea and Eden Hazard may end up there, too. I understand that Arsenal has a decent back line---when they're all fit. But it seems to me that Arsenal just isn't deep enough to weather the injuries. If that's the case, BRING IN THE PEOPLE YOU NEED.

I admire Arsene's trust and I think he's a great coach, but I've seen mules that are more responsive.

Figured this would be a good thread to say THERE'S ANOTHER DEMBA ON TYNESIDE! Papiss Demba Cisse is officially a Newcastle player. I think that we actually have the opportunity to push for Europe once everyone comes back from ACON.

I'll take one step further as well. Here are the EPL clubs that have purchased players since the opening of the transfer window:

Chelsea (Cahill, possibly Hazard)
Wolverhampton (Jonsson)
Aston Villa (Stevens)
West Brom (Allan)
Swansea (Donnelly and Buyente)
Everton (Gibson)
Tottenham (Falqué)

If Arsenal had a back line and more dangerous strikers I wouldn't be worried at all. But they don't. And Sunday is Manchester United, who absolutely destroyed Arsenal back in August. I want to be optimistic about the rematch, but I'm just not. Should I expect that the current inexperienced back line will be better than the one from August? Because I seriously doubt that.

Fortunately, you guys aren't exactly catching United in their stride. Back in August they were tear-assing through the league until Man City faceraped them in a way they'd never been faceraped before.

Cahill is sh*t, need proof? Look at Bolton's position in the table. So, Arsenal didn't kill themselves by not signing him (and if anything, Kos proved we didn't need him).

Hazard OTOH? Good lord that kid has oodles of talent and ability and AW's not gonna even give it a decent go to get him. Yes Wilshire should be back soonish but doesn't hurt to get some extra talent.

BTW, what the hell's Chelsea going to do? Spend £40M to keep him on the bench? Really? Just so you won't piss off Lamps?

I admire Arsene's trust and I think he's a great coach, but I've seen mules that are more responsive.

If Arsenal miss the CL's places, he's gone, possibly RvP and a couple of others. Essentially you have to start from scratch (again), unless you somehow get an Ancelotti to replace him (and right now he's at PSG).

He's a great manager, but unless he's gonna pull something out of you-know-where to keep this team in the CL spots, he should leave.

He's been given the no. 9 shirt. Nae pressure.

Hearing about signings about 30 minutes before they are official is a vast improvement on the usual Tyneside soap-operas. Seems more professional as well.

Didn't Man City tell Arsene that Arsenal were their new academy? And doesn't that effectively make this a Man City pursuit?

If they start him on the steroids and HGH now, and teach him how to push other kids over, he might have the "talent" to play in the NFL.

I would rather have Robin's five year old or any other five year old preferred over Arshavin at this point.

They're hurting, but not as badly as Arsenal right now.

Agree, and Hazard is a better fit. Still, I was saying that we're halfway through January and everything that I'm seeing indicates that Arsenal is planning on making any moves at all. And that irritates me. I don't believe in a club overspending to get a lot of expensive pieces and seeing how they might fit together, but Arsenal is like a guy with a gunshot wound who's insisting that it'll heal up on its own eventually.

As good as he is, sometimes I think Arsene overvalues his coaching, like an archer that's so supremely confident of his technique that he can get the same results from a cheap plastic bow from a supermarket as he can from a professional compound bow. I don't expect Arsenal to be in the top three at the end of this season. Without getting additional help in this window, I think their place in the top six is at risk. I love Thierry, but there's a lot more bleeding than his presence can help.

Giving him the #9 shirt is a bit worrying but we'll see how it works out. This is such a great signing because him and Ba seem to be best friends. Can only mean that both Demba's want to stay here long term and play together.
