Heh... Love it.

It's got everything it needs to get the message across to the target audience.

Less is more when it comes to effective advertising, in my opinion.

Initially, I was thinking it might need a web address or a QR code if it's running as a print ad, but I think it works without it, too. Those who know the show get it immediately, and those who aren't familiar with it, may do a little digging to figure out what the ad is about, which is good, too.

The falling guy probably would have been fatter, if that were the case. : )

So should we start betting on how many episodes Don will manage to go before cheating on his fiancee?

I'll put $1 down on .2.

I caught up on Mad Men a few months back. Just knocked out the entire series on Netflix. That's how I watch most of my TV, but in its case I'll be watching it live when it comes back.

Heh... No shiat.

Our Art Director hung up a huge "Keep it Simple, Stupid" banner in the studio where the interns work. I swear some of them are time travelers from the 14th Century with the amount of Horror Vacui some of these kids bring in with them.

There is a difference between simple graphically and simple functionality.

3.bp.blogspot.com

Simple: Two colors. Simple readable font.

news.cnet.com

Note colors, gradations, shadows, backgrounds, multiple functionality of folder, properly kerned letters. Far more complicated than it actually has to be.

Job INSISTED on a great aesthetics, putting a lot of thought behind the feel of the computer while streamlining its function

If Hulk Hogan can be shown on television after such events, I'm sure that some random falling guy on a poster is okay.

One of my first jobs was "designing" mailer coupons... I think that's about as low as it goes on the design scale.

The Walking Dead is shiat. Almost as bad as Rubicon, not quite as good as The Killing. But hey, at least it was better than The Prisoner.

The walking dead is shiat as a direct result of Mad Men stealing part of its budget. The show creator even refused to do a second season with the cuts AMC demanded.

That's not minimalistic. The camera couldn't do a wide enough shot to show it, but that's just one of the show's male characters trapped in Christina Hendricks' huge, pasty fat rolls.

Meanwhile, over in film school I'd see a lot of lesser students pushing minimalism aesthetics so far that their films where devoid of any content. You subtract too much, and you might just find that you have nothing.

THIS! Slashing 250K per episode is the reason we got stuck with extended soap-opera crap this year. We all got bamboozled by the opening scene featuring 200 zombies into thinking that they would actually be going bigger.

Yeah, they tried that a few days ago, and it was a massive failure. There's a reason Don Draper gets the big bucks and his choice of women.

Really? The best image you could use to feature the OSX aesthetics was one with Windows Vista, the Start Menu, and Microsoft Excel plastered on top?
