Send the guy an email when they fail to sign forte

"4 - 12 for three years straight isn't too bad, right?"

"hey rodgers....discount double check" isn't all that pithy.

The headline here was double choke at least.

I'm a Bears fan as well. But face it- the Packers are the defending champs, and made it to the playoffs with a 15-1 record. I think Bears fans should concentrate on their own team.

I'm just glad that after breaking my good friend Di Atribe's heart a few weeks ago, and then my good friend Gosling's heart this weekend, my beloved Giants won't have to break my good friend robsul82's heart this coming weekend.

Yeah, and don't forget the Pack have beaten the Bears 4 straight now, including an NFC title game. The Pack will be back in the mix next year, the Bears probably won't be. Even with Forte it'll be rough.

The Bears were doing well this season up until injuries struck their team. I think they need to add a bit of depth to certain critical positions (QB.. get Orton back as your backup), but I don't really see it as a stretch for them to be decent next year if Forte resigns.

Actually you send the email when they do sign Forte, and all of the sudden he turns into Larry Johnson.

When the best thing you can say about your season is 'Look at them...they lost!', your season, and most likely your team, sucks.

What's more humbling -- Packers losing in the playoffs? Or the Bears losing Cutler on a stupid play then failing to bring in a veteran QB for a playoff run then unceremoniously backing out of the playoffs?

2012-01-17 02:47:47 PM
I'm a Bears fan, and I know I don't even need to say anything to the Green Bay fans. They know what insufferable pricks they were all damn year.

The landings always hurt a hell of a lot more when you fall from that high up.

They were doing great until the injuries piled up.

The first one. Definitely the first one.

Would you rather be upset that your team lost in the playoffs, or glad the team that helped keep your team out of the playoffs lost?

Personally, I've emerged from the rage-drinking phase and have begun rage-eating instead. I think I can tamp down the bitterness with enough carbs.

WIth the Packers eliminated the Bears now have an easy path to the Superbowl.

You're mistaken. Chris Johnson has at times still shown motivation and heart after getting his big contract. The only thing LJ showed was the ability to fall down.

There's this thing in the NFL that allows teams to protect prized free agents called "the franchise tag". So if other teams really want Forte, they can pay through the nose.

Aaron Rodgers and Jay Cutler can watch the game together this year.

He isn't saying the Bears were better, just that he was happy to watch them fail badly in front of their fat, loud mouthed fans after hearing them brag all year. I bet they were crying tears of gravy at Lambeau.

Every year we hear from Packers fans that the Bears both suck and blow, that they'll go 4-12, and be last in the division. It only took losing Cutler and Forte to injury, some horrible clock management by Marion Barber, and truly awful QB play from Hanie to keep the Bears out of the playoffs this year. Add to that the full season of trash talking from Packer fans, and well yeah, they can pretty much suck it. That they lost to Eli Manning, again, at home, in the playoffs, made it even sweeter.

Bears are going to be lucky to sniff a NFC Central title for a few years let alone a bowl. If this is what it takes to cheer them up, then good for them. Maybe the Bears owners/management can get lucky and instead of working through probelms that occur mid-season when they are definitely playoff contenders, they can hope the Packers get big injuries to allow them a whiff of the Central title, or they can continue to celebrate the misfortunes of others to raise their own spirits.

I'm a fan of neither, nor a hater of either, but in this case I'll say the same thing I'd say to any of my children:It's a failure indeed that can find more cause to celebrate in other's failures than they can in their own accomplishments.

Maybe the Bears should be worrying about signing Matt Forte. If they lose him the Viking will be laughing at them next year.

I just got back from spending some time in Chicago. Got to see the sights, experience a mini-snow storm, and even take in a blackhawks game.

The people there were surprisingly friendly based on the stereotype that Chicagoans have, that is, until I tried talking sports with any of them.

Pfft...any "obnoxious Green Bay fan" is less of a dick than a comatose Oakland or Philly fan. Take any 'obnoxious' Green Bay blow hard and he'll 1/10 of the uninformed idiot fan of those two teams. Green Bay has nothing but the Packers (I know, I grew up there and visit frequently). Packers fans literally have nothing else to do, they live and breathe Packers.

Want to make another bet about the Cubs, being the team of destiny, book it, and done?

I suppose whatever makes you feel better about yourself. It is just a game, and yeah, as a long-time Packers fan, the band-wagoners pissed me off (amazing how many people post about the Packers on Facebook and become fans when they are doing well, yet don't know who Mike McKenzie is or remember 4th and 26). But this was quite a big effort to make yourself look like a jackass (especially when your team kinda got owned by the Packers in the calendar year 2011).

As a Packers fan, I can say there are a lot of bandwagoning douchebag fans, but the Philly and Oakland fans are way worse, for sure (at least Packers fans don't regularly sexually harass and destroy property of opposing fans). And yeah, I am from near GB, and that is all they do there. During training camp, there is a nightly 30-minute tv show about that day's practice. It is kind of insane how obsessed they are up there.
