As for the article, I'm from Philadelphia and went to a college that was about 50-50 when it came to Eagles/Giants fans and I never heard the giants fans use "Gaybirds". Now they mocked our pronunciation of Eagles, which I recognize is indeed warped and we just called them the giants.

Where we both agreed was the following;

Cowboys = cowgirls
Skins = pigs/piggies

No. Redskins = Foreskins

The name "Giants" just doesn't lend itself to any funny twists.
