I think "raw" sewage is simply untreated waste. For example, most communities have at least one large sewage lagoon. The raw sewage is pumped in and allowed to sit while the bacteria and other microbes chow down on it. Those lagoons often discharge "treated" sewage, which is less dangerous than "raw" sewage Then again, maybe I don't know shiat.
