GimpyNip: If you want look cool you need a Charlotte Hornets Starter Jacket, a pair of Skidz, and some Pumps on your feet.

Skidz? Holy Hell I thought I fully erased those from memory. I think I wanted a pair for about four minutes in 1989.

Heh, I remember when the pump came out. Within a week, all the jocks in school had a pair.

my school was all about the L.A. Gear Regulators. I remember begging my parents for a pair and they eventually got them for me.

Sybarite: Pump it. Pump it up, now.

I was worried no one else remembered that.

Basketball underwent a revival with the popularity of Michael Jordan and others, so all the jocks and trendy kids wore basketball sneakers. I remember being astounded that somebody would shell out $120 for a pair, which was a heck of a lot of money in the 80s, especially for a kid. People would buy the white stuff nurses use and polish them up during study hall.

My feet still have dents from those things, why oh why did I ever stray away from Bauer Skates back then, I think I was upgrading from a very comfortable pair of Bauer 1000s to those Tacks.

He did not invent the Reebok pump, he invented the technology, Reebok stole his idea and invented the Reebok pump.

Came here to say this. Actually saw them in my mom's basement yesterday in a box she asked me to look over before she sends them to Goodwill. Gave them a pump: still working! Still satisfying! I miss the pump skates. Too bad the rivets separated from the boot 5 minutes before the faceoff of my first and only high school playoff game. Playing a game in a size 8 pump and a size 10 tack sucks. Not the way to end your senior year.

I owned a pair of Reebok pumps when I was younger. I was 35 pounds overweight and didn't play any sports. In retrospet, I wasted a lot of my parents' money.

Never had the Reeboks as a kid, but do have a set of hockey skates with 'em (4K's....7K's coming tomorrow) and they're comfortable as hell.

Walter Payton Roos FTW:

They key was to not over inflate them. I liked them because you could keep your laces a little less tight. Never got lace bite with them.
