Well their claim that it was unknown til 2009 is a lie. I personally know a urologist who has a "clit in a jar" and has had since the 80s. It's a giant wishbone-shaped thinger. And it's spectacular.

I think it's the stimulated clitoris that hadn't been mapped until 2009.

"we now understand how the erectile tissue of the clitoris engorges and surrounds the vagina - a complete breakthrough that explains how what we once considered to be a vaginal orgasm is actually an internal clitoral orgasm."

I think women have always known this, at least on a subconscious level. Since the clitoral tissue is wrapped around the vagina It could also explain why girth or positional angle can more important than penis length when it comes to reaching orgasm.

But what on earth are the crura doing? Why point backwards like that? Or is it just to get us to lie back and get our legs up?

Hmm, good question. Maybe they do something during child birth, so when we're trying to essentially pass a watermelon through a garden hose they cause the release of some endorphins. Or maybe they do nothing and are just the equivalent of a pelvic appendix.

Personally I prefer your explanation.

Ok yeah the MRIs hadn't been done, but the article seems to indicate that nobody knew the extent of the organ until 2009. That's Very Different.

Hmmmm....

So the fabled "G spot" must be a cluster of nerve endings along the inner clitoris instead of just sitting there in the vaginal canal in an arbitrary middle spot like previously thought. That makes sense.

It's a Hitler Downfall video. Immediately after hearing this line from the generals, a shaky-handed Hitler takes off his glasses and demands everyone get out of the room.

This just goes to show how poor sex ed is in this country, but I had no idea the clitoris extended that far. I knew there was extended clitoral tissue beyond the little button, but to have it go all the way around the vagina and have wings at the sides? That's really cool. Maybe this knowledge can help us understand female sexual dysfunction, perhaps it has something to do with the shape of the clitoris internally. Maybe the tissue can't expand with blood properly, as happens in male sexual dysfunction.

I love science. So much.

This makes complete sense, based on personal observation. The internal aspect of it explains why jackrabbit vibrators work especially well for some women (including me. Bullets are fine, but to really have fun, something inner and something outer work best) I wonder if the animal repro professor (who spent half a lecture talking to the male students about how to please women, and was fairly accurate) will work this into his lectures.....I might forward this article to my old human sexuality prof - she was very interested in the anatomical side of things.
