You may. Trampling on an 18" model of Stonehenge is also acceptable.

my state wouldn't let me have OTAKU, it was deemed as potentially offensive.

Well...maybe. If your state was in Japan, but you know that.

One of the local 501st Legion guys has a vanity plate that has the University of Michigan M on it, and the actual plate number is "PIRE".

/Other 501st guys like to use their TK numbers. Makes me wish the Rebel Legion did something similar.
//And according to the Secretary of State site, "FUSR0DA" is not available. Dammit.

Leaving Chicago I saw a North Dakota plate that was "RED 6". For extra nerd credit, there was an WWGFD? bumper sticker.

One episode particularly hit home for me, as I've been there. The poor thing was up all night fulfilling change orders, and the first thing the client does when she walks in is order MORE changes, including, first and foremost: "It needs to be cooler." (?????!!)

"Do you not like the colors"?
"The color's fine; it just needs to be cooler."
"Do you not like the shape?"
"The shape's fine; it just needs to be cooler."
Could you be more specific?
"It needs to be about 20% cooler."
*headDesk*

I can only imagine the writers/animators had often been in this same boat as well, and loved taking the piss out of this behavior. This kind of nuance, I believe, is what really 'makes it' among the CS/ geek crowd.

Also, it doesn't hurt the main character is a bookworm for magic spells, with literally no friends, being explicitly assigned to go out into the world and make some friends for her research; as if first-year Hermione had been sent out of Hogwarts to go make some friends among muggles. Most geeks have been in that position, too. :/
