Jesus, you'd think he could spell check his description of the damn thing.

That was pretty damned impressive.

Too bad Terra Nova didn't make an effort to have some decent SFX.

2012-01-14 05:43:42 PM
That was damn good. I doubt that he did all that himself for $150 though unless a lot of time and equipment and props were donated. Still, pretty good in any case.

Looks more like the trailer for a video game since the plot seems to be 'they go here and shoot robots and then go there and shoot robots"

Yeah, they don't make movies like that.

$150,000,000 of that was spent on cocaine and whores for Ryan Reynolds to get over losing Scarlett Johansson

Green Lantern was crap. Every copy should be dropped into the sun.

This project was a one man effort, meaning i had to do it all: concept, props, DP,

He had to DP himself?

Is the guy making the budget claims a current or former member of congress?

2012-01-14 07:36:53 PM
one man project? then who the hell are all these guys:
Directed by Alex Popov Produced by Jim Wedaa Represented by the Gersh agency's Abram Nalibotsky and Sean Barclay
and who the hell are all the actors?
Budget $150? You can spend 3 days in San Diego and Alaska, and also travel between the two places for $150?

will people ever get tired of narratives based on russian plots for world domination?

The total budget for remodel on my house was also $150.00, but like this fellow, we went way over.

Bullshiat. $150 would only be a fraction of just the travel between the locations. A couple of the costumes alone would be $150. $150 would cover a fraction of the actors in the trailer or the people who helped make the trailer (despite him claiming it was a one man job, directly contradicted by his own credits). A tiny fraction of the hardware in the movie. Hell, wouldn't even cover the software or video/sound rights.

Utter, and complete bullshiat.

Not that the trailer was bad, of course...but the guy is lying.

Budget: $150 *

* Not including actors' fees, software costs, location costs, stock film footage costs, prop costs.

Betting the hundred and fifty was just the catering costs. Also, he better watch out, he stole that music from Inception. Warner Bros. does not exactly take kindly to people who lift their stuff.

2012-01-14 08:01:19 PM
All that's missing is the opening narration of "Hey what's up? Andrew Kramer here..."

2012-01-14 08:03:47 PM
I have to say the concept is better than lot of stuff that has come out of Hollywood recently. I always wonder how they manage to blow a hundred million dollars or more on special effects for a movie that has a script that might as well have been written on the back of a napkin. I mean, couldn't you spend just a little time and effort on the idea of the movie itself?

th0rough: will people ever get tired of narratives based on russian plots for world domination?

I can't think of any since the Cold War.

Even if everyone worked for free, you have to feed them. Those are the rules. He has it backwards. You're supposed to over inflate the reported budget.

Besides did you see the kid? Spielberg was involved somehow.

NewportBarGuy: $150,000,000 of that was spent on cocaine and whores for Ryan Reynolds to get over losing Scarlett Johansson

Came in to wonder how many drug dealers retired because of that movie. Didn't think of the whores.

Emposter: I totally agree with you on that. Alaska to San Diego is expensive. The cheapest flight(s) from Anchorage to San Diego on Expedia picking a midweek flight going at anytime....is $491. What happened to $150?!

Calling BS.

make me some tea: He must've gotten a bootleg copy of 3D software and everyone to work for free.

Blender is free, and the effects look on par with those that can be made in Blender (actually, if you get someone that really knows their way around Blender, you could get much better, but Blender is a royal pain to work with).

If he could get it done in a month, After Effects and Maya have free trials.

What happened with Brazillian clip shown here about two years ago? The guy supposedly got a major deal to make a full length movie.

Same with the Mexican(?) vampire(?) movie from '11; that one was supposed to be released here but if it was it didn't make to my city - a great place on a Great Lake.

Any ideas what happened to these?

Interesting concept, I like the twist.

Nope. The people with the good ideas know what their ideas are worth. Plus a good story has the chance to not appeal to everyone. Both mean less money for the studio. So instead they buy cheap scripts with braindead stories that are sure to appeal to the lowest common denominator and shoe horn in "sexy" actors, explosions, and over the top special effects to help being people into theater seats.

This is Hollywood. Artistic quality takes a backseat to profits.

Githerax: Interesting concept, I like the twist.

It's not a twist. The proffered weapon as Trojan Horse is so obvious that I've forgotten where I first saw it, and any number of JRPGs have turned on the idea of an ancient super-weapon discovered in a forgotten temple/lab/archive/cave when all hope is lost.

Frankly, I'd rather watch a movie based on Harry Turtledove's Worldwar series.

ADubs86: Gun nut question: if the human forces fighting back are supposed to be American, why are they using FAMAS instead of M4 systems?

Because those were the airsoft guns he had in the trunk of his car?

It's pretty cool, but the stolen Danny Boyle soundtracks adds a lot.

I know this was supposed to be low budget and all, but I'm fairly certain that Moscow looks nothing like Toronto. Also the Moscow police force probably doesn't use Crown Vics either.

I've seen worse concepts green-lit.

Give the guys five million and see what happens.
