Is everyone asleep?

2012-01-14 07:27:42 PM
The list is more likely to put me to sleep than anything on it. Here's the real list:

1. Valium
2. Sex
3. Choking out

At least that's how I did it in prison.

2012-01-14 07:32:02 PM
3 or 4 beers, a hot shower, and a good fapping.

Works for me.

Smoking a bowl conspicuously absent.

Lying down usually helps.

Maintaining
perky breasts? Sadly, that ship sailed looooong ago.

Zolpidem Tartrate, bowl, Alprazolam, prons, fap, coma

In that order.

I was thinking the exact thing. From what I've seen of other submissions from that site the answer is resounding yes.

To improve your sleep, there is nothing like getting out of a crappy relationship. On the physical side - down pillows - twice as many as you can use at the same time. Every time you roll over, you get a new kind of narcotopia.

Weed and fapping do it for me.

Yes, it is half cracked and half xkcd. It's like some fratboy who is convinced he is 10x as funny as he actually is made it through enough undergrad science classes to sound like he knows what he is talking about.

I have a new mattress coming, but I have not found a pillow that I like in years.

My sunrise alarm is great for waking up gently, and it has a sunset feature that I use sometimes that makes it easier to fall asleep.

Try one of those cluster fiber pillows.

They also left out meds. Meds are good.

1) Trazodone - the VA's favorite - I think they own the plant that makes it
2) Something called "Dream Sleep" from "theherbalist.com". Tastes like essence of liquid ass but works better than Ambien

Or you can watch a chick flick. "Twilight" generally puts me under about 15 minutes in.

Putting on a boring pbs documentary always does it for me. Especially if narrated by Liev Schrieber. He just has such a smooth, sleep inducing voice.

I'm the weirdo who opens the window in the winter so it's abot 40f in the bedroom. I put about 200 blankets on the bed and sleep like a baby.

So...list is stupid except for the cold part.

Disregarding for a second my 'method' of getting to sleep (fark around on internet or playing video games till I get tired), I find his lack of Tempurpedic mention disturbing. We bought one when our old mattress had warranty covered issues, and I don't know if I can ever look back. It's amazing.

Now if only I could figure out why I sleep half twisted around with an arm under my skull, I'd be golden. It's not the mattress, it's me.

Been looking at these. Do you find they act as a big foamy insulator, raising your body temp a dozen degrees? My impression when I lay down on one is that it's really...warm.

I have a Tempurpedic. I've only had it a few weeks but i haven't noticed it being particularly hot.

It is a fantastic mattress. Well worth the price.

I was an auction once and I could have bought a Craftmatic adjustable bed for a dollar. It would have been a hoot, but I didn't have room for another king size bed. (If you ever want to buy something large, check the local auctions first)

The old models did that, but the one we got about a year ago, the sales guy said they changed them and added a few 'channels' within the mattress to allow air flow for cooling. I am usually warm but not overly so, and I'm pretty sure my husband hasn't really been overheated either.

In fact since we don't have quite enough insulation upstairs, it is almost a little too cold some nights until I've been cuddled up in the blankets for an hour or two. We bought it partly because of the warranty refund, but also because I have a back injury of some sort (either degenerative or a bulged disc, not sure) and for the most part, it has done wonders for helping me sleep through the night.

sigh, been there, done that, turned me into a zombie, no matter how little I took. (trust me, I took TINY amounts and still)
ambien/levitra? farked with my SSRIs and lead to thoughts of suicide? WTF

finally started upping my thyroid dosage by 5-10% and tada, much less problems falling asleep
sigh
now if they could only figure out why we need to increase my dosage every 2-5 months ....

stupid sleep problems

Karma Chameleon: Smoking a bowl conspicuously absent.

I suffer from imsomnia occasionally and keep a small stash on hand just for that.

Also, white noise is really good, like a running fan or NASA's Sounds of Space.

The best way to fall asleep is to try really hard to stay awake. Rumble strips are a life saver.

I'll admit my sleep habits are unusual, but unless I am stressed about upcoming work events, I usually sleep like a rock.

Room: Window open, fan on. It's probably low 50's in my bedroom right now, if not colder.
No Pillow: I use a soft blanket as a pillow that I can easily contour to my head/neck as needed.
Layered blankets: This lets me easily adjust based on hot/cold
Being unmarried: No one to steal my blankets or get in my way when I roll over.

Sadly I'm not sure how much of this I will be able to keep once I get married in June...

If you go into LifeHacker expecting humour, you are sadly mistaken - it's not a humour site. It's designed to give you hints for various aspects of your life (one in 50 being actually useful).

Number 3 has the best tip.

FTFA: If you feel yourself getting drowsy during the day, you might be tempted to nap-but that can be disastrous for your sleep schedule if done incorrectly. Learn to master the power nap, then calculate the best time to nap and crank one out then.

Yup. That usually helps me sleep, too.
