Klippoklondike: I saw at least two that hit the back of the head, but they didnt look very hard and he was obviously aiming for the side. A DQ for it seems a bit odd.

They were coming pretty fast though. Like I said, Mario had to make a quick call since he felt the fighter was in danger. Yeah it was the wrong one but I'll take a bad stoppage now and then if it keeps guys safe.

Agreed.

The refs make snap decisions based on what they're seeing in real time, and that guy was freakishly fast anyway.

Rogan should have kept his mouth shut and made his comments later/after the fact.

Wasteland: Seconded. Adding him to my "watch this guy" list- and after that call, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dana White go out of his way to get him back in competition ASAP.

Agreed. And with the type of fight that was, he'll be ready to go again pretty quickly. He's the kind of guy that could be a huge crowd favorite and Dana will definitely realize that.

Probably gets him on a card in March or April on FX or Fox so he can show off to a bigger audience. I know after Jones destroyed Hamill, I made damn sure i watched every fight of his since then. Legally and other wise

Agreed it was a rough call to make and it was close.. No wrongs or rights there.. Ref aired on the side of safety.. I don't even rule it a bad call. Just an unfortunate one.

I don't know why they are having Massenzio facing Palhares. As long as his head is on straight Palhares could be a top 5 middleweight, while Massenzio probably doesn't even belong in the UFC. I really don't understand this matchup.

Ya...I just figured it was because they're usually not big shots. They do warn guys; and they usually switch from hammer fists to uppercuts or something.

I don't know if you've ever noticed this, but the UFC often matches up local fighters with guys they are likely to beat in order to put on a good show for/engage the fans.
