FTFA: Now in its 23rd season and approaching its 500th episode, "The Simpsons" still attracts a sizable number of viewers, but even those who still watch the show don't actually care about it very much. They watch because it's there, out of nostalgic affection, and because every great once in a while, a good episode will interrupt the flow of mediocrity.

this is the most apt description of the show. It occasionally has entertaining moments (the most recent Christmas episode was better than it should've been), but it also has frequently retarded moments than even Season 11-era writers would've blushed at (see: last Sunday's episode). If it wasn't for DVR, I wouldn't really bother.

Don't watch most of those but I agree with the ones I do/did watch.

Does The Tonight Show with Jay Leno count? They don't need to scrap the show (they can't) but just a little "housecleaning" is in order. And although it's been discussed to death, Lost. Now that we know the finale was bullshiat anyway, they could have shaved off a season or four.

2012-01-14 01:15:32 PM
Pretty much agree with all of those, and that CSI needed to be on it. I'm also almost tempted to toss Bones on there, too.

The Office still has it's moments, but it's no where near as funny as it was with Carrell. Here's a clip from my favorite episode.

Work It lasted two episodes before being cancelled. That was two episodes too long

List fails without Supernatural. Not that they aren't doing a good job of trying to keep it interesting, but we're two seasons past the Apocalypse people.

Also, I actually *liked* the last season of Dexter - with the exception of the discussion of Deb's new potential romance - and thought that it was mostly done well. Am I really the only one?

I also watched Smallville all the way through. In the last few seasons, there were some really bad episodes - but I have to say that Zod was worth it. I do wish Michael Rosenbaum had stuck around though.

Where the hell is House?

Exception Collection: I do wish Michael Rosenbaum had stuck around though.

He did come back for the series finale, only to get amnesia or something.

King of Queens- That last season was brutal. He's pissed that she got an apartment without her telling him, yet they used that for a one episode joke just one season before, when Doug got one without telling her.

The Cosby show-the cousin moves in

Seinfeld- Susan dies

Growing Pains- Leo the homeless kid moves in

Mr Belvedere- too many "special" episodes

Facts of Life- Cloris Leachman

Diff'rent Strokes- that farking redhead

SO TRUE! After all that clicking, I almost tore the ligaments on my clicking finger; I had to soak it in water for ten minutes before I could handle the pain of clicking the quote button.

They were totally right about Friends. Monica became an insufferable nag once she and Chandler were married, the Rachel pregnancy thing was lame, also.

The X-Files? Eat a bucket of pig snot, Mr. Author. It may not have been as good after the first five seasons, but it was still pretty good. My only real complaint is that they killed off the Lone Gunmen in the last season.

I was surprised that Six Feet Under wasn't listed. I forget when exactly -- maybe it was about halfway through the fourth season -- but watching that show became a tedious chore.

Friends deserves to be on there for being truly punishing.

I thought Smallville got surprisingly better the last few seasons. Losing Lex kind of sucked, but getting rid of Lana really freed up a lot of other stuff for Clark's character. The show also improved once the writers realized that the fans didn't really want a show about a young Clark Kent anymore but really wanted a show about Superman. And in the last couple seasons, it essentially became Superman in all be name.

Looking back, they probably should have rebooted the show after the fourth season. So Clark goes off, uses the crystal to make the Fortress in the arctic and that's the end of the season. And when the next season starts, it's 5-10 years later. Clark is finally leaving the Fortress as Superman, but everyone in his life has moved on. So the fifth season should have been about Clark, who's now in his mid-20s, trying to re-engage in his old life, getting a job at the Daily Planet, whatever, while protecting Metropolis and the rest of the world as Superman. They could have even changed the show's name from Smallville to Metropolis.

Sorry, I loved the X-Files but when once the T-1000 showed up, it was time to call it quits.

/wished they would have done another movie though. The alien invasion was scheduled for 2012

I was so happy to see Weeds right there on the first page, because damn that show needs to die. I loved it for the first few seasons, but I stopped watching when Nancy had the Mexican drug lord's baby so she could control him. Just got too stupid to watch.

I'm sticking with Dexter. I have a theory that every third season sucks ass, and thus seasons 7 and 8 will be good and we'll be spared a season 9. I didn't even hate season 6 (it was still better than season 3!), I just thought it paled in comparison to the awesomeness that was season 4 and 5 (fark you, Lumen was an awesome character. Haters!).

But mostly I'm sad that I am apparently still the only person who think that Doggett and Reyes were solid characters and that seasons 8 and 9 had worthy moments. What really killed The X-Files was Baby William (I farking hate baby storylines) and the decision to change the conspiracy from "preparing for re-colonization" to "creating supersoldiers" (wtf?). But seriously, season eight had some great episodes: Within/Without, Veinen, Alone, and Badlaa were all great. Season 9 was a bit more hit or miss, but I still love the episode "Improbable" (with Burt Reynolds as God!), as well as "Sunshine Days," "John Doe" and "Nothing Important Happened Today I/II."

Still pissed they cancelled it.

That would have interrupted the incredibly successful film franchise.

Anything involving Chelsea Handler, talk show or sitcom.

The only show she should be on is COPS.

Buffy.

Had a perfectly satisfying ending with Season 5. The sixth season wasn't terrible, but the seventh was just painful to watch.

Sliders?
Um, if you think about it, only one character made it through the entire series. And he wasn't even supposed to be there from the start.

Also, that show NEVER realized its potential. Every world was a single issue world.

I would agree with two of the three. Castle is still great. I knew Chuck would jump the shark quickly. He couldn't stay the clueless incompetent guy forever and when he wasn't it would just be another spy show. Yawn.

I have no problem with slideshows that use Javascript/AJAX to load each "page" on the same page, instantly.

Like this one, or the Life Magazine ones.

But ones that are programmed by lazy developers... ugh!

Click, scroll past your friggin' 300 pixel header (when did that become OK?), read... click, repeat.

Charmed. Shut up, it was a fun show. And it had hot girls dressed in various fetish outfits each week. But then they brought in the chick from The Big Bang Theory as I guess the first of a replacement set and I tuned out.
