So, yeah. The "Recall Walker" idiots are unwashed hippie idiots who enjoy shouting at undecided people, while obstructing traffic. Yay, you, I"m sure that you feel good about yourselves.

Let's see how interested these leftist idiots are in a month or two, when it gets cold here.

"This is far from the first politics-related incident Oshkosh officers have responded to since the signature drive to recall Walker kicked off in mid-November.

"Nichols said officers have responded to 39 incidents related to recall petitions, damaged political signs and stolen signs since Jan. 1, 2011, and 29 of those have been since November when the recall drive began.

"A signature collector caught one incident on video in which a man threatened that the signature gatherer would be killed if he continued to gather signatures ...

"Nichols said OPD expects similar incidents will continue to come up and asked people on both ends of the political spectrum to show some respect."

Don't misconstrue me -- No, I'm not quoting this part to excuse the perps who were the subject of tfa or to claim they're not all that bad. There is no excuse for their behavior. Anyway --

Maybe I'm just old and the world changed too much but 30 years ago you wouldn't have seen this behavior. It would have been considered conduct unbecoming of a good Wisconsinite. Sure, we would have had our disagreements, but we wouldn't have thought of treating our neighbors this way. It was something you'd think Chicagoans did all the time. Not us.

Thanks, Limbaugh. You too, Belling. This is the world you helped create.

Whoops... Meant to say:

I went to school at UWO for two years, and you couldn't be more correct. I've never met worse cops anywhere. It's like being a total unreasonable asshole is part of their training.

/not that I'm condoning the idiots in the article, they were completely out of line.

To be fair, Oshkosh isn't the most lawfully compliant city in the area. Oshkosh has a higher murder rate than other cities in the fox valley, and UW Oshkosh's students are fully to blame for preventing the state in lowering the drinking age to 19; I remember when that bill was floating about in the 90's, then after the cops busted a party for underage drinking the students rioted causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. Any dreams of lowering the drinking at went kaput, and no one has tried again since.

My guess is that the "shove" he gave the police officer was by way of throwing his belly at the end of the cop's billy club.

I've always been told that the real reason the drinking age hasn't been lowered by states is because they would lose a lot of federal funding if they lowered it to below 21. Thanks a lot MADD lobbyists...

Aye, that is also true. But Wisconsin was pretty close to bucking the trend in the 90's (only Wisconsin, of course :-) ).

And it's a damn shame that we didn't buck that trend :)

I've heard some legendary stories about the St. Patties Day riots at UWO as well...

Poe's Law. I don't think you were serious, but this is for anyone stupid enough to read that and agree... FTA: A signature collector caught one incident on video in which a man threatened that the signature gatherer would be killed if he continued to gather signatures in front of South Park Middle School in late December.

In the grand scheme of things, even your inflated statement about unwashed hippies blocking traffic and yelling doesn't compare with threatening to murder people because their political beliefs are different than yours. Such behavior, for all you right-wing patriots, is called domestic terrorism. There were many more incidents just as serious that were filmed, most of which the cops did nothing about and the media ignored when contacted with the story. One included a petition circulator's car being boxed in at a gas station and making death threats until the police arrived. We had one circulator that kept tally of the number of people that yelled obscenities at him, with over 50 incidents on his busiest day. There were too many incidents of a petition circulator being spit upon to even count. There have been people that claimed they were contacted by the GAB to confirm that their signature was legit (of course these were people who hadn't signed making this claim). However, the GAB hasn't seen a single signature as of yet, so their claim is a bald-faced lie. I know one teabagger (idiot coworker) who bragged about how he was going to sign a false name every chance he got so that the signatures were found to be fraudulent, then he complained about fraud when a news story broke that "Adolf Hitler" had signed. I can go on and on. I wouldn't try to claim any moral superiority if I were you, teabagger fascists.

The man continued to shake the cowbell in the officer's face in spite of his requests to not make excessive noise.

When the officer attempted to take the cowbell, the Appleton man pushed the officer twice.

Nichols said the officer "directed" the man to the ground and requested assistance.

As he attempted to handcuff the man, a 25-year-old Appleton woman hit the officer in the back with her picket sign.

Both were arrested and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

Nichols said OPD recommended the man be charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and that the woman be charged with disorderly conduct and battery to a police officer, a Class H felony.

We need more felons in prison. CaChing!

"Carin' 'bout stuff is 'fer hippies!"

"Yes, don't they realize that the cold cruel world will devour them if their corporate masters decide to stop watching over them!"

"And all their shiny crap! Why aren't they eternally grateful for all their shiny crap!"

Speaking of laws, there also seems to be an inverse correlation between how readily one resorts to calling someone you disagree with an idiot, and one's own level of intelligence. I've never seen this actually studied formally, nor do I have a name for this phenomenon, but but I can't help but wonder if it could be linked to The Downing effect.

Of course, if there's any validity to this observation, one could turn it around on me and say that, inasmuch as I am suggesting djh0101010 is an idiot for calling liberals idiots, I must also be an idiot myself.
