"There is a prison in Peru in the high desert called Larri Ganchos. Built to accommodate 3,000 men, it now houses over 10,000. There are only a few guards; there is not enough money to hire more. They are placed in various strategic and generally safe areas outside the main prison. The actual security within is maintained by prisoners sanctioned by the administration called the Council of Inmate Leaders; yet each dorm or block or pavilion is like a pirate ship, and there are regular raids into each other's territory. Peru won't want the international backlash if he is murdered in prison, so he will die from a form of undiagnosed aggressive cancer at age 26.

Anyone else wonder if authorities in other countries should be looking into young women vanishing around the time he was there? I seem to recall he went on what amounted to a world tour after he left Aruba.

I would support the death penalty for Vander Sloot, and I would support it being carried out today, but I am fervently opposed to him or anybody being forced to live in these conditions for any longer term period of time. Vander Sloot might be a subhuman, but that doesn't mean he should be forced to exist in sub-humane prison environments.

I guess at least he's guilty, though. How many of those 10,000 are suffering for crimes they didn't commit?

His sentence will be cut to 14 years for good behavior. Sort of wish if he had to kill somebody, he'd have done it in Texas.

It would have been an epic troll move if they gave him one week in prison. People would have been outraged and freaking out all over the place. Then 10 minutes in after he was raped, shanked and thrown into the yard all deaded and stuff, they could have released a news update from their Minister of News named Yosoy Untroll, and regretfully announced he was "raped and killed in prison. Problem?" Then he could have exited the news conference with a large smile while rolling his eyes to the side.

Since they're going to try him in the US for fraud (for offering to tell the Holloways where he put her body), I'm hoping that they choose to either hold off on that until after his sentence in Peru (doubtful), or to not count the time in custody in the US towards his sentence in Peru.
