He said he "has" several houses in Versailles. One, a 7,000-square-foot house, was featured in the TV show's first season and a 10,00-square-foot house will be featured in the season that begins Jan. 21.
And 'has' needed to be in quotations because...? Is that all he said in the interview.
"How many houses do you own?"
"has"
I know, I know. It's a small thing in the article, but for some reason it stood out for me.

My dad was on the first episode of his show for about 10 seconds (he built the pool at one of the houses in that neighborhood, and told him how to restore the pool at the renovation house). He seemed like a nice guy when I met him.

All right stop, for some irate composure
Ice is out with a brand new foreclosure
Something got my mortgage all messed up
Bank called me up and I finally 'fessed up
Will I ever pay? Yo -- I don't know
Shut off my lights...? I think so
To the extreme, my bank account's in peril
Overdraft fees, and I'm wearin' a barrel
Stand, out on my former front lawn
All off my stuff, well it's out and gone
Auction, when they talk really quickly
Numbers so low that I'm feelin' sickly
Love it? I hate it. It's really no treat
Ironically, Now I'm
really
on the street
If there was a problem, Yo, I blew it
Check out the house while the banker sells through it
Homeless, baby...I'm really homeless, baby

Yeah that's what I thought too. Also, he probably has a legitimate gripe about how much they spent to replace hurricane damaged trees. $2,800 from each owner sounds kinda steep, although I don't know how many owners there are.

I'll unashamedly say that I have an autographed copy of "Hard To Swallow" which I had signed during a meet and greet session with him before a show for the same tour.

I know, I know. It's a small thing in the article, but for some reason it stood out for me.
There is no comma before "has" indicating that it was not a direct quote, but rather an imphasis by the author to infer that although he says he has several houses, none are titled to him according to the property appriaser. But, since they are titled to his company, which he owns, then he has constructive ownership. So, he "owns" those homes.

Other than the second paragraph, of course. Reading comprehension ftw?
In a
foreclosure lawsuit
filed this week in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, the homeowners association claims Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, owes it about $4,100. The association filed a lien against him in May when it claimed he owed $2,800. That same month, Van Winkle, transferred the deed to the 5,000-square-foot house on Trianon Place to Van-Rap Ltd., a Texas-based company, county property records show.

Nah, not in Wellington. If anything, having (any sort of) celebrity in the neighborhood is a huge boon to them. Versailles is just a bunch of McMansions surrounding a manmade lake behind a cement facade painted up to look "European". Sure it's by a golf course: the public golf course. It's too far from the coast to actually be valuable real estate. A five bedroom out there goes for about $300K, which while that's not cheap, it's nothing for Palm Beach County. A 2 bedroom condo in West Palm goes for more, and actual Palm Beach real estate starts at about $2M.
