Indeed. We, basically, have no idea what the actual truth is.

7 measly points? That's no santoruming.

they'll all fall into line in lockstep fashion just like good little fascists. they always do. you never really have the GOP going deep into the primary season. they usually decide on a candidate about this time every election. already the party has told the other candidates to lay off Romney.

Irrespective of the source, Gingrich's anti-capitalist hissy fit is a loser.

1 - alienates the base
2 - gives Romney sympathy
3 - gives Romney a safe zone in which to formulate responses in anticipation of similar potential attacks from Obama
4 - further solidifies Gingrich's image as a sore loser with a vengeful streak

Honestly, if I thought his was anything other than Gingrich having a tantrum because he didn't get picked Homecoming Queen, I'd say he was in cahoots with Romney. Gingrich's ego is self-destructive.

I wouldn't trust a Rasmussen poll no matter the result.

I dunno. Being a venture capitalist isn't exactly a winner with working class whites that tend to vote Republican because of the queers and welfare queens.

If he's trying to pull off a Rove, I'm giving him a 3.8. They could have wounded Romney in SC with social issues and flip flopping on them. This line of attack is playing to Romney's (albeit relative) strengths.

I'm not sure he's capable of such deception. He seems like an child deciding to destroy what he can't have.

He gave his Super PAC to Jon Stewart and is going to actually throw his name in the hat in South Carolina, according to his show last night.

They did a great piece showing just how corrupt the Super PACs are, as well, while transferring the ownership.

Yeah, that was pretty good. Plus Colbert with a campaign, and Stewart running a PAC behind him? There is great potential for lulz here. I'm going to write in Colbert here in TN too if I can.

Except for the fact that after he went on the anti crony capitalism rant (wasn't anti-capitalist despite the FOX News spin) his poll numbers surged. The OWS/Libertarian message resonates with real voters. Sadly those who vote at the primaries are often those who are not the mainstream voter.

Romney is miles ahead of all of them. FOX News Channel is pushing Romney like crazy, but the freepers are freaking out.

Colbert isn't on the ballot and can't be written in so the polling is irrelevant. However - the do plan on running ads.

God, the whole Super Pac part of Colbert's show should be required watching for high school Government students, the haters just want to hate, but if they paid attention, most would probably appreciate the message Colbert is actually trying to get out there...

So what do you think would be the outcome if he somehow managed to take home all the marbles? Personally, I think we might have a pretty good Pres... Fast on his feet, diplomatic, but not afraid to say what needs to be said.

The good thing is that Romney is a disgusting piece of garbage who will be completely eviscerated in debates the first time Obama says the word "Bain". We're talking landslide territory here.

It's jsut for the lulz, sadly. He's missed the filing deadline, and SC doesn't allow write-in votes in primaries.

Yeah, but you're talking about the people who've already made the decision to vote against Obama this year no matter what, and all of them made that decision on either 11/5/08 or 1/20/09.

As for the rest of America - those not in the "VOTE OUT THAT UPPITY KENYAN!!!1!" demographic - MD is right. All Obama has to do is compare Romney to the multibillionaire CEO who would gladly fire them the day before Christmas in order to by a new yacht for his mistress, and Romney is toast.

2012-01-13 04:35:11 PM
I'm seeing a repeat of 2000 here: A little known Social Conservative goes into SC and defeats the GOP's annointed one, and rides that success into Super Tuesday.

The difficulty here is that Santorum isn't a Southerner or a Protestant, but that may wash out given that Romney isn't a Christian at all.

The more paranoid part of my mind quietly insists that Gingrich is throwing this particular fit because they're Romney's vulnerable spots, and they want to get him into the general with the voters associating the accusations with infantile hysterics rather than, y'know, realizing that most of it is legit. Sort of cutting off a potential Obama line of attack by preempting it.

Then I remember that Newt isn't actually that smart, and relax again.

That's because he campaigned as a reformer who would reverse the abuses of the Bush administration. It turns out he caved to the Republicans on a lot of issues, and kept or made worse Bush's positions on civil liberties. A lot of people who voted for Obama last time are apathetic about him at best, much in the same way Republicans are apathetic about Romney.
